Conte scoffs at the notion that there is a large percentage of mixed martial arts fighters and boxers who genuinely need testosterone replacement therapy, or TRT, for legitimate medical reasons. He believes they’ve simply discovered a way to increase their testosterone levels without failing a postfight drug screening.
“This is just another way to circumvent the rules,” Conte said of TRT usage in MMA and boxing, which entered the headlines last month when Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight Nate Marquardt revealed he had fought three times while on testosterone replacement therapy. “That’s all it is.”
Former UFC welterweight contender Frank Trigg said in an interview with Yahoo! Sports that fighters will test boundaries in order to gain some sort of advantage. And he believes that’s exactly what is happening with the increasing number of fighters seeking therapeutic-use exemptions for TRT.
“There is a loophole that exists and guys are taking advantage of it,” Trigg said. “Guys are going to take advantage of whatever they can. If you said to me, ‘Hey, you’ll have to cut off your little finger and your little toe and give up three years of your life, but you’ll win the title and make two successful defenses,’ you know what I would say? ‘At what time tonight do I have to show up for the surgery?’
“We don’t care about the long-term impact or how it’s going to feel 20 years from now. We’re worried about now. And a loophole has been created and, absolutely, guys are taking advantage of it.”

Mariusz Pudzianowski world's strongest man wins mma debut.
"Five-time World's Strongest Man winner Mariusz Pudzianowski needed less than a minute to win his mixed martial arts debut on Friday in Poland, pummeling an opponent named Marcin Najman by TKO just 43 seconds into the first round.
The fight, which took place in Pudzianowski's native Poland, didn't tell us much about what kind of fighter he can be: Najman didn't have any MMA experience and wasn't able to provide him with any kind of challenge at all.
There's a whiff of "freak show" to the idea of a World's Strongest Man competitor beating someone up in an MMA ring, but Pudzianowski says he's long been interested in martial arts and is taking MMA seriously. I don't think we're ever going to see Pudzianowski beat a high-level opponent, but as someone who enjoys both MMA and strongman competitions, I confess that I like the idea of Pudzianowski crossing over from one to the other."

MMA fighters enjoy low legal risk anabolic steroid use in Japan.
"What happened when [Filho] came to America, he got beat up really bad. Now he’s back in Japan and he feels like a kid in a candy story. He can use all kinds of steroids and I think the steroids have gone to his head. He didn’t perform the same as he does in Japan as he does in America and now he suddenly has a big mouth again. I would say that he’s a little donkey on steroids. He thinks he’s a running horse but he’s more like a little pony. I really believe that he used steroids. He also backed out a couple of times when he had to fight Chael Sonnen. He said he was crazy. Maybe he is crazy, I don’t know. I think he wasn’t feeling very good mentally because he cannot use his magic stuff. I also fight in Japan and I don’t use anything. If there’s an athletic commission test, he can fight me everywhere, everywhere he wants."
