Cops witness and bust steroid buy at gas station.

A Lantana man went to a Boca Raton gas station to juice up — not fuel up — and was arrested after buying steroids from a personal trainer, police said. Patrick Michael Murphy, 30, drove to the Mobil gas station at 198 W. Yamato Road, on Thursday at about 4 p.m. to meet with Joseph B. Fielis III, 30, of Boca Raton, according to a Boca Raton police arrest report. The two men were watched by a police officer who was doing surveillance at the gas station. An arrest report written by that police officer described the sequence of events surrounding the arrests: The officer saw a black GMC pickup truck drive into the parking lot of the gas station. The driver, later identified as Fielis, parked his truck and walked over to a white Chevy SUV. Fielis got into the front passenger seat and started talking with the driver, later determined to be Murphy. The officer watched the two men through binoculars and saw them both looking at Murphy's lap. "Given my training and experience as a police officer, it appeared as though the two subjects were making some type of transaction," the officer wrote. The officer walked over to the SUV and started talking with Murphy. Murphy was clearly surprised and was "visibly shaking," the arrest report said. it looked like Murphy was trying to "conceal something between his legs," the officer wrote. On the center console was a folded stack of cash — 13 $20 bills and one $10 bill, or $270. The officer asked Murphy to get out of the SUV, which he did. The officer noticed four vials of a clear yellow liquid on the seat. "Biogen Labs," a label on one of the vials read. Labels on the other vials simply read, 'TP.' Both men were detained until other officers arrived. Murphy told the officer he was at the gas station to buy $270 worth of steroids from Fielis, a personal trainer. Fielis exercised his Fifth Amendment right and didn't say anything. The officer looked into Fielis' vehicle through the driver's-side window and saw more containers of liquid substances. Police found jars and vials of liquid substances and other paraphernalia. The substances – all steroids – included Trenbolone Acetate, Trenbolone Enanthate, Testosterone Cypionate, and Sustanon, amounting to a total of 300 grams, the report stated. Both men were arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. Fielis, who faces five charges including three counts of possession of a Schedule III substance with intent to sell, remained in custody Friday afternoon. Murphy, who faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, was released Friday morning.
