Bulgarians who though they were smuggling steroids get death sentence in Malaysia.

Two young Bulgarian men, arrested almost a year ago with five kilos of amphetamines in Malaisia, were sentenced to death, bTV announced citing unnamed sources. The Bulgarians – Georgi Bakalov and Ivan Kostov, were arrested last summer after the local authorities found the drug haul hidden in their suitcases. In the beginning of last week the father of one of the arrested Bulgarians said for bTV that his son was unaware of the presence of the drug. The young men were told that they were carrying Viagra and anabolic steroids in amounts exceeding the admissible amounts, the relatives said. According to them, another Bulgarian – Georgi Georgiev, was the one who ordered the trafficking, promising EUR 1,000 for the “service”. Georgiev was arrested, too, but according to information of the Foreign Ministry, he was released short after the arrest due to lack of evidence and he got back to Bulgaria. Bulgaria does not have a diplomatic representation in Malaysia, while the interests of our citizens are protected either by the missions of other EU countries or by our embassy in Jakarta.
