Pitbulls are fed steroids to become savage killing machines.

Vicious gangs have been firing up the already aggressive animals with injections and using them as weapons for crime and in clashes with other hoodlums.

Our investigators saw a breeder plunge a needle laced with the illegal steroid Deca-Durobolin into his pitbull terrier in a back yard on Edge Lane, Liverpool.

The owner of the dog that we saw being injected sneered: “Give it a day and this dog will be a bloodthirsty beast. He’ll be a lean, mean, killing machine – no one will f**k with him.”

He added: “I got these ’roids from a gym. Tenner for a vial – they work a treat.” The most common steroids used in this sick trend are Deca-Durabolin and Sustanon 250.

Both increase muscle mass and make the animals even more ferocious. Used by hulking body-builders to increase muscle mass, the steroids known as “stegs” and “roids” are doing the rounds in backstreet gyms and can also be bought online.

A pack of 20 vials of Sustanon 250 costs around £13 per vial. But a vet on Merseyside told the Daily Star Sunday: “Vets study for years to make sure they have the knowledge to give the correct dosage when injecting animals with drugs.

“The risks people are taking by injecting their animals are staggering. And giving steroids to dogs that are naturally aggressive is like pouring petrol on to a burning fire.”
