Australian lifesaver banned for stanozolol use.

A Gold Coast lifesaver who tested positive for the use of a steroid has been banned from surf boat competitions for two years.

The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority says Currumbin Barbarians crew member Peter Atkins returned a positive test for stanozolol in March this year.

The crew won the open surfboat event at the Australian championships in Perth.

Surf Life Saving Australia CEO Brett Williamson says that result could be overturned.

"The individual rower's medals and placings have been disqualified and we've lodged an appeal to CAS the Court of Arbitration on Sport on that matter and because of the court's rulings I can't comment on what our case is but we're certainly asking for the placings to be revised," he said.
