Dangerous 'Chinese Herbal Viagra' found in British shops.

The product branded as 'Jia Yi Jian' manufactured by Hunan Aimin Pharmaceuticals Ltd and sold in both Chinese traditional medicine shops and independent high street retailers has been seized and analyzed by Britain's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency ( similar to the US's FDA).

The capsules were found to contain a dangerously high dose of Sibutramine 68.1mg ( an anti obesity drug usually made in 15mg strength ) and Tadalafil 50.06mg ( an ED drug commonly known as Cialis usually made in 20mg strength ). These two active ingredients are of course both prescription only medicines in the UK.

The unusually high dosages and combination of two active ingredients could simply be a compounding mistake by the manufacturer. It can't have been very economical for them to produce a product with such high doses of two different ingredients.

Perhaps the manufacturer intended the product to be sold as either a herbal Viagra or as herbal slimming product but was too lazy to do separate production runs or possibly the high dose of Sibutramine was included for it's purported side effect of delaying orgasm in men.

An MHRA spokeswoman said an investigation is on-going and could not give details about how and where the product was seized. I suspect sales of the previously unknown product have sky rocketed since all the British press reports.
