"Steroids in our Gyms" British anti-steroid TV show.
She found it very easy to buy what was most probably FAKE Anabol from a website mailing from Czechoslovakia.
IMHO it was rather reckless of a frail looking middle aged woman to risk taking real or fake Anabol. She was in contact with hospitals during the report and I'm sure they would have been willing to test the tablets for her prior to use had she bothered to ask them.
Chances are the fake Anabol sold by dealers based in Eastern Europe is a mix of methyl test and caffeine.
Real Dbol normally makes male users feel happier and yes it does often make your skin a little oilier.
You have to wonder why as a woman she didn't chose to try something like oxandrolone instead.
Even weirder if you watch the video you'll see the product she takes out of the padded envelope appears to be a box of Spiropent ( clenbuterol ) which seconds later turns into a ziplock bag full of tabs the colour of which isn't easy to determine ).
Her visual transformation throughout the show reminds me of one of those b4 and after meth addiction commercials.
Low testosterone under-diagnosed, easy to treat.
Because this signature male hormone develops muscle and fuels sex drive, bodybuilders and others have abused it and jeopardized their health — one reason doctors must write 6-month prescriptions versus the standard 12 months.
However, for the estimated 13 million men suffering from low testosterone in the United States, legitimate testosterone replacement therapy represents an elixir for those diagnosed and treated.
Therapy benefits include reduced fatigue, depression and anger; a rekindled interest in sex and more frequent erections; and increased muscle mass and bone density. Yet, only 5 percent to 10 percent of those considered eligible for HRT receive it.
Irwin, 57, said that unraveling his tangled health issues, which include pernicious anemia and hypothyroidism, delayed the low testosterone diagnosis he got three months ago.
HRT boosted his total testosterone blood levels from a low normal score of 378 nanograms per deciliter to 719 ng/dL by late last month. The range for men runs from 300 to 1,000 ng/dL, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Within one week of starting HRT, he felt positive treatment results."

FDA raids headquarters and warehouses of Bodybuilding !
Investigators searched the headquarters of bodybuilding.com, a company based in Meridian, Idaho, according to a person familiar with the search. The person, who requested anonymity, was not authorized to discuss the investigation.
The affidavit filed in Idaho District Court listed more than 60 products sold by the company that contained five controlled substances or designer steroids, including andro and madol, a designer steroid the FDA identified in a similar probe that prompted the July raid of American Cellular Labs."
"The affidavit claims that the Web site has been illegally selling five anabolic steroids with the names “Madol,” “Tren,” “Superdrol,” “Androstenedione,” and “Turinabol,” despite five “warning letters” from the FDA since 2002 informing the company that it was in violation of the law.
“It's a significant step but it also unfortunately highlights the ineffective regulation of this industry,” said Travis Tygart, president of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. “We've got to wonder how many others are out there continuing to sell these and other anabolic steroids.”
Rob Blenkinsop, the FDA special agent who signed the 86-page affidavit, was also involved with the BALCO crackdown and was listed as a government witness in last year's perjury trial against Tammy Thomas. In the document, Blenkinsop claims to have been involved with the execution of four search warrants in the last four months at firms “involved with the illegal distribution of misbranded and unapproved drugs being marketed as dietary supplements.”
"According to the documents, 26 of 31 products purchased by the Food and Drug Administration as part of the investigation tested positive for at least one steroid. Among the steroids found in the products were Madol, Tren, Superdrol, androstenedione, and Turinabol."
"The F.D.A.’s investigations of supplements have caught the attention of members of Congress. Senator Arlen Specter, Democrat of Pennsylvania, has called a hearing on Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs titled “Body Building Products and Hidden Steroids: Enforcement Barriers.”
For some strange reason no other BB sites / blogs seem to be reporting this story so far.
A big corporation can of course "accidentally" sell juice without fear, blame their suppliers etc
I can pretty much guarantee no jail time will result from this raid and fines if any will be laughably small relative to their yearly turnover :-)
Ex-tribal officer Jimmy Russell Hamm pleads guilty to steroid-related charge.
U.S. Attorney Sheldon Sperling said Thursday that the case against Jimmy Russell Hamm stemmed from an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Sperling says Hamm purchased anabolic steroids for personal use and to distribute between September 2005 and June 2008. He says the purchases and deliveries of the steroids were done while Hamm was on duty for the Creek Nation Lighthorse division, the tribe's police force.
Hamm's attorney didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.
Sperling says statutory range of punishment is not less than five years in prison and/or up to $250,000 in fines."

Snurf ( legal herbal high ) supplement creator busted.

a pill that can be bought on the internet through random hrbal dealers. Is said to be made out of "herbal supplements", but is actually a large quantity of pure DXM. Great for recreational use."
"A Las Vegas woman was arrested this morning on federal fraud charges for falsely advertising and distributing on her website an “herbal” alternative to street drugs which was actually an active ingredient in cough syrup and a known drug of abuse among teenagers and young adults, announced Greg Brower, United States Attorney for the District of Nevada.
Yamila Abraham, 34, was arrested this morning at her residence in Las Vegas, and is scheduled to appear at 3:00 p.m. today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lawrence R. Leavitt. Abraham is charged in a criminal Indictment with seven counts of mail fraud, one count of misbranding a drug, one count of introducing goods into U.S. commerce by means of false statements, and criminal forfeiture.
From about January 2004 to August 2006, Abraham allegedly operated a website called, www.Pleasureherbs.com, which falsely and fraudulently offered for sale “herbal” alternatives to recreational street drugs, including a product known as “Snurf.” Abraham represented that “Snurf” is “the long awaited pill form of 10X extractions of Fevizia, Palenzia and De la Amazon. Each tablet contains 500 mg of these herbal extractions per pill.”
In reality, “Snurf” contains no herbal supplements, but rather exclusively contains dextromethorphan hydrobromide (DXM), which is a stimulant and the active ingredient in over-the-counter cough suppressants. The amounts of DXM in “Snurf” far exceeded the FDA’s recommended dosage for cough suppression. The Indictment alleges that the labeling of the “Snurf” was false and misleading and did not bear adequate directions for use or adequate warnings against use. Abraham purchased DXM in bulk from sources around the country and caused it to be repackaged in capsules for sale as “Snurf.”
The indictment alleges that on May 25, 2005, Abraham fraudulently entered into U.S. commerce approximately 20,000 tablets containing DXM by stating that the packaged contained 20,000 tablets of vitamin B-12. The indictment further alleges that between November 22, 2005, and May 1, 2006, Abraham mailed seven packages of “Snurf,” from Las Vegas, Nevada, to several locations in California, and to Springfield, Illinois, and Indianapolis, Indiana.
If convicted, Abraham faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each mail fraud count, up to one year in prison and a $250,000 fine on the drug misbranding count, and up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the introduction of goods into commerce by false statements count. Additionally, if convicted, the Government seeks forfeiture of properties of the defendant derived from the proceeds of the crimes of up to $186,680, as well as 20,000 tablets of DXM and any equipment used by the defendant to make counterfeit drugs."
I'm confused why it's taken three years for the arrests to have finally been made. There were numerous press reports of Snurf posioning in 2008. An article on the dangers of Snurf can be found on WebMD.
The domain pleasureherbs.com currently redirects you to reddawnpill.com another 'herbal high' product, the reddawnpill.com site has links to various bodybuilding and MMA sites.

Interesting article on testosterone testing methods.
and yes I realize the article focuses on the testing of T levels in women however the same accuracy issues also apply to men :-)
Ex-narcotics agent and Universal Nutrition sponsored athlete faces steroid charge.

"A former South Mississippi law enforcement officer turned power lifter and personal trainer was out of jail on $50,000 bond Monday following his arrest on a drug charge, according to Marshall Fisher, director of the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
Fisher said MBN agents and other state and federal authorities assisted in the arrest of Joseph “Joe” Edwin Ladnier, 45, at his home on Overlook Road in the Vancleave community Friday.
Fisher said agents went to the home armed with a search warrant and seized 1,000 dosage units of anabolic steroids, a Schedule 3 narcotic."
"The investigation was launched, Fisher said, after authorities “received information that led us to believe that he was going to be receiving a shipment of these drugs.”
Ladnier, who could not be reached for comment Monday, has a Web site, Joeladnier.com, which lists his current profession as a personal trainer and coach for bodybuilders and power lifters."
Sounds to me like he may have been set up by an enemy :-(
I presuming as it's exactly 1000 units that he was probably caught with just a single tub of Dbol.
Dominican baseball prospects frequently play fast and loose with the rules.
At the brightly lighted Farmax, which shares a crowded strip mall with a cafeteria and a camera repair shop, powerful injectable steroids such as testosterone enanthate can be found behind the toothpaste and cough medicine.
A block away at the Carol pharmacy -- open 24/7 with free delivery -- you can buy not only plush toys and school binders, but the young women in white lab coats at the back of the store will sell you Deca-Durabolin, the anabolic steroid taken by former American League most valuable player Jason Giambi.
In the provincial capital of San Cristobal, about 45 minutes west of here, scantily clad women near the checkout stand of a La Sirena supermarket pass out fliers for a dozen products banned under most drug-testing protocols.
One of the drugs highlighted in the Mitchell Report is the steroid Dianabol, which is available virtually everywhere here, over the counter, for 30 cents a tablet."
Another main stream article with coverage of roid shopping in the Dominican Republic. Shame there are no pics to accompany the story.
New Jersey - expanded high school steroid testing sought.
In those three years, 1,500 of the state's estimated 258,000 athletes were tested at a cost of $200 each test.
The results? Two high school athletes tested positive and were given a one-year suspension from athletic participation.
"Let's face it, there are good athletes on bad teams and some may try to get bigger, quicker and stronger so that the colleges take a closer look at them."
"Bigger, quicker, stronger" great name for a pro steroid film :-)
Article on hair testing of athletes to detect use of testosterone undecanoate.
The most abused substance in sports testing is testosterone, an anabolic steroid that has been on the International Olympic Committee's list of banned substances for many years. It is regularly found in urines tested in official labs accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), despite the best efforts of sportsmen and sportswomen to disguise their actions.
In practice, testosterone itself is not the drug taken, because it is metabolised rapidly to inactive compounds. The preferred alternatives are testosterone esters, which metabolise slowly to testosterone, providing a more gradual release of the steroid into the system. For drug testing labs looking for testosterone esters during the routine testing of urine samples, the focus is on the metabolite testosterone, because the esters are not detectable in urine.
In order to distinguish the drug from natural testosterone, the ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone, a second natural steroid, is measured, although the proximity of the ratios from natural and abused testosterone has caused problems in the past. It would be far preferable to measure the intact testosterone esters.
The esters have been found in blood plasma but a less invasive matrix for collection would be hair, and this has been investigated by scientists in Belgium.Hair testing of athletes has the bonus that it will be far more difficult to falsify samples, as occurs with urine testing. It would be very difficult for an athlete to refuse permission for an official to remove a few hairs from their head on the basis of privacy. On the other hand, head shaving could be an avoidance technique, so the method would need to be tested on other body hair.
If you pluck all head and body hair in the period before competing, rather than simply shaving, you'd be hairless for longer and have a better chance of testing negative :-)
More news on this weeks DEA and ICE raid on Florida's IDS supplement company.
U-haul trucks were used by law enforcement officers to load up with items from the office. Officers say the items are evidence in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigation (ICE).
Officials told Eyewitness News that they served warrants in the Orlando area regarding an on-going state and federal investigation.
An eyewitness said Wednesday’s raid was on a major scale.”They raided the place. They had dogs. They’ve been taking all kinds of stuff out of there, they even had vehicles confiscated. They took all kinds of stuff,” the eyewitness said."
"Witnesses said the raid began mid-morning on Wednesday, with investigators taking vans of items as well as custom and antique cars."
British man jailed for smuggling 14000 Testosterone ampules from Pakistan.
Parvez Atta, aged 31 of Main Road, Sheffield, was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court yesterday (18 September 2009) after he was found guilty following a two-day trial last month.
The consignment of drugs was contained in two pieces of hand luggage carried by Atta when he arrived on a flight from Karachi, Pakistan, at Heathrow airport on 1 March 2009.
Detection officers from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) found the haul of 35.6 kilos of Testosterone, around 14,000 ampoules, when they searched his baggage.
Atta claimed to be returning from a friends wedding in Pakistan, although he had no other luggage or personal effects with him.
Assistant Director of Criminal Investigation for HMRC, Peter Avery said: “We are alert to all drugs being smuggled illegally into the UK, including Class C drugs such as steroids. They are as addictive and dangerous as Class A drugs when used in the wrong hands."
How on earth did he clear outgoing airport security with 35 kg of ampules in his hand luggage ?
"They are as addictive and dangerous as Class A drugs when used in the wrong hands."
To compare the danger posed by steroids to that of Class A drugs is crazy. I'd love to hear his definition of the wrong hands ?
The estimated value of 150k pounds is a joke ( 10 pounds for each amp ? ), retail street prices are half that at most ( 5 pounds per amp ). On prescription in UK it's less than 2 pounds an ampule.
Australian anti-steroid propaganda reveals this years current seizure statistics.
In the year to September 4 there were 401 seizures of illegal steroids at airports and mail exchanges - a 14.7 per cent increase on the 342 seizures for the same period last year and a 23.9 per cent jump on the 303 in 2007. There were 1878 steroid seizures in 2008-09, compared with 1832 in 2007-08.
Customs says most of the steroids - such as methenolone, stanozolol, boldenone and methandrostenolone, which cannot be imported into Australia without a permit from the Therapeutic Goods Administration - are sold on the black market."
Two cops suspended for buying steroids from DPS trooper.
No prosecution is expected of the pair, who Parton said were suspended this week pending an internal investigation.
He said that inquiry indicated the brothers violated agency policy by allegedly buying steroids from Jerman, who was arrested at the Kendall County Sheriff's Department Sept. 11 and is free on $15,000 bond."
Testosterone Treatment May Have Non-Sexual Benefits.
This study sponsored by Schering shows male Testosterone replacement therapy using injectable Testosterone Undecanoate in a very positive light, other testosterone esters would of course have equal benefit but would require more frequent injections.
Interesting counterfeit drug stats from Ghana.
To him, statistics on counterfeit medicines seized each year show that about 43% contain no active ingredient, 24% are of poor quality, and 21% contain low content of active ingredient with 7% containing wrong ingredient and 5% having wrong packaging.
“Drugs most faked by counterfeiters are high cost drugs, fast-moving, top-selling brands scarce and new drugs, consumers must watch out.”
Ferring has sense of humour when naming new anti-androgen.
Obviously 'Hardongone' ( great name for an anti-androgen ) was a little too obvious but they sneaked 'Firmagon' through FDA approval.
Irish source busted over tamoxifen shipment.
Dungannon officers were tasked to the scene and found 14,800 circular white pills in total.
Amongst the finds were 100 boxes of suspected tamoxifen, which is used to combat breast cancer, and 20 viagra tablets.
“We gather that these types of drugs have been abused by bodybuilders,” said Inspector Stephen Moneypenny. “We have no street value yet as these are not your normal illicit street drug.”
One 31-year-old male from Moneymore has been arrested for possession of a class C drug with intent to supply. He denies the charges and has been bailed to October 6."
An unusual and rather unlucky bust. It sounds like most of the tablets were anabolic steroids even though none of them were specifically named in this press report ( perhaps they were unlabelled and required lab testing ).
US parents often request HGH shots for healthy kids.
"He wanted to make his kid big, and he thinks he's going to walk out with the shots," said Desrosiers, director of pediatric endocrinology at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando.
"He was willing to pay more than $45,000 a year, and didn't even bat an eyelash."

Italian police stop scam of drugs supplied to UK companies.
Investigators said the culprits used bogus prescriptions to obtain a slew of state-subsidised drugs, from cancer medicines to Viagra (sildenafil), which they then sold to companies in Britain, at a large profit.
The scam, centred on the southern provinces of Naples and Caserta, is estimated to have cost the Italian state several million euros.
A doctor, three pharmacists and a drug company representative were among 25 people arrested, with “five of them caught red-handed,” Italian news agencies have reported. Those arrested may be charged with fraud and illegal trafficking of medicines and the police also seized pharmaceuticals and prescriptions.
Italian authorities have not released the names of the UK companies that received the medicines on the “parallel market”. However, La Repubblica newspaper has reported investigators as saying that the owner of one UK pharmaceutical supplier was involved in the scam."
Growth hormnone possession charges against wrestler Kurt Angle dropped.
"All I can say is I've been completely innocent of any charges that have been brought to me, and God has shown that today and my attorney has been able to prove it in court," Angle was quoted as saying, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I'll continue to live my life by the law the way I've always done, and I will always abide by the law and try to be a role model in this community, and that's all I've ever asked for."
I'm happy about this news but a little confused, I was under the impression Hygetropin did not have US FDA approval and was therefore unable to be prescribed. I don't recall Angle claiming it was foreign doctor who prescribed it to him so why were the charges dropped. ( one possibility is that they lab tested the vials and they contained no actual HGH ).
Boxer Pacquiao denies doping.
“I don’t even know how it looks and what color it is,” Pacquiao said in a TV interview shortly after arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Sep 17th "
Of course he doesn't need to know anything about steroids coaches and doctors should be looking after that side of things.
Unigen Life Sciences introduces new blister packaging for it's orals.

They claim the move is to make their products harder to counterfeit but I think the real reason is that Asia Pharma's ( Unigen's main competitor on the Thai market ) current packaging looked more professional, either way it's a welcome upgrade. My apologies for the poor pic it was taken from their website ( and may well show a prototype of the new pack design ).
Australian weightlifter hit with doping ban.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) imposed the maximum two-year ban on Murphy who breached rules involving trafficking of steroids and other prohibited substances during 2003.

Malaysian press hysteria over online steroid sales forces government to act.
“Over Facebook?! This is a clear violation of the country’s laws and I will instruct my team to look into this,” said Liow.
“This is all illegal especially when it comes to steroids. The government has a duty to stop the abuse of the system as this can turn out to be a drug syndicate.”
“If it’s done online, then we will be able to trace the website owners and track them down,” he added. Mailsport highlighted that drugs such as Anabol and testosterone propionate were no longer restricted to pharmacies or even gymnasiums but could be ordered through blogs or Facebook.
When pointed out that such a call was made some 13 years ago, Liow added: “It boils down to enforcement. We need to ensure that this will not be repeated in the future.”
Supplier of painkillers, sleeping tablets and steroids busted in Florida.
Investigators say they seized more than 3,000 pills that have a street value of more than $60,000, in a raid conducted Friday afternoon.
Also seized; two firearms, a vehicle, cash totaling $4,500 and stolen merchandise worth $6,500.
Police said most of the stolen items were automotive-related from a store in Brevard County. They say it took three full-size truck loads to transport everything to the police department.
Pills seized include Oxycodone, Xanax, a variety of muscle relaxers and steroids, according to a written release.
Police did not identify any of the suspects involved or where they executed their search warrant. They did say the investigation is on-going and involves as many as six other people."
Affidavit details DPS trooper steroid bust.
“A cooperating individual contacted and negotiated with Jeffrey Jerman the purchase of a steroid cycle,” states an affidavit filed by Texas Ranger Wayne Matthews to obtain an arrest warrant.
Matthews said he observed the transaction on Sept. 7 at 300 Main St. in Kerrville, the address of an H-E-B store.
Citing the ongoing investigation, Matthews declined Monday to say whether Jerman, 33, drove his patrol unit or was in uniform at the time of the alleged sale."
Renewed appeal for information in Paul Duckenfield murder inquiry.
"Police believe the motive for the murder is linked to Mr Duckenfield's involvement in the supply of anabolic steroids used by athletes and body builders."
“We will continue to investigate his murder with vigour and determination until we are able to answer the question as to where his remains are and who is responsible for his murder."
Malaysian press upset by online steroid sales.
Many would tend to purchase drugs such as Anabol, D-bol and Testolic at local gyms — established or otherwise.
Today, these drugs are also available through Facebook. Malay Mail tracked down suppliers of steroids and hormonal drugs and was surprised by the easy access to these substances.
It took just two phone calls, and the right words, and this writer was able to obtain Anabol 5mg (1,000 tablets) for RM320 and Testolic (testosterone propionate) 100mg for RM150!"
Australian customs busts Kiwi steroid smuggler arriving from Bangkok.
Customs and Border patrol officers stopped the 23-year-old for questioning when he arrived at Melbourne from Bangkok yesterday.
A search revealed about 7000 tablets, believed to be Dianabol, concealed in four snap-lock plastic bags inside his underwear.
Officers also found a 100ml bottle labelled "Finexol" and 100 "Trenabolone Acetate" tablets.
Customs and Border Protection spokesman Richard Janeczko said steroid smugglers were high on the authority's hit list.
`Whether it's through an airport or through the post, we are in the business of detecting and therefore stopping these harmful performance and image enhancing drugs from reaching the streets and gyms of Australia,'' he said."
Oddly Google has no results for Finexol other than reports about this bust so I've no idea which UG it's from. It could be re-bottled hence the unusual large size ( 100ml ) but then why the odd name on the label.
Hiding 7000 dbol ( 14 tubs worth of 10mg tabs ) in your underwear is pretty crazy, volume wise it's about the same as five cans of Coke. Again I'm presuming the stuff was in his hand luggage and moved to his pants during the flight. ( they are still patting people down at Bangkok airport ).
The name of the guy has not been released, it could be the Kiwi scammer who runs the copycat gear99 sites from Thailand.
Jeff Hardy arrested for drugs ( steroids, cola etc )

"262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 Soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine and items of drug paraphernalia."
The press doesn't seem to have noticed that 555ml is rather a large amount of juice, over 50 10ml vials / 500 amps.
Hardy had recently left wrestling to start filming a new reality TV show. Maybe the stash was enough juice to last the duration of the show and get him in shape for his comeback.
This bust makes a mockery of the WWE wellness policy that is supposed to be keeping wrestlers drug free and healthy.
"High risk high reward" or just plain old stupidity ?

All tested New Jersey high school athletes drug free.
The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic association tested 500 athletes involved in state tournaments for the third straight school year. One athlete tested positive in in both 2007-08 and 2006-07.
New Jersey is one of three states to test high school athletes for performance enhancing substances. The testing will continue this school year with 500 more athletes being tested.
"Our only evaluation is anecdotal and that has been positive," NSIAA assistant director Bob Baly said Wednesday morning during the organization's executive committee meeting. "Parents and students are telling us they're leary of taking substances because they might get caught. Just because no one tested positive doesn't mean the program's a success."
Considering how many nutritional supplements are spiked with ingredients that will give you a positive test result these statistics seem almost too good to be true.

M.L.B. Prospect (to Be Named) Barred for Steroids.
"Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday the suspension of a Dominican prospect named Damian Arredondo for testing positive for steroids."
Many Dominican prospects have been suspended for performance-enhancing drugs in the last two years, but in a twist, this prospect’s real name is not Damian Arredondo.
In July, the Yankees signed a player they believed to be the 16-year-old Arredondo. DNA tests, however, showed that the player had lied about his identity and age. A spokesman for Major League Baseball declined to comment when asked if the player’s real identity was known.
As for the suspended player previously known as Damian Arredondo, he is a free agent apparently searching for a new team under his birth name."
