Floridan couple busted for steroid distribution.

"A long-term investigation has led to the arrest of two Hudson residents who police say were dealing steroids. Crystal Gabold, 29, and Michael Gabold, 35, were arrested at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday at 4340 W. Hillsborough Ave."

"Michael Gabold told investigators that he got the steroids through the mail from an associate in China, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said."

Canadian health store owner avoids record after martial arts steroid bust.

"The owner of a North Vancouver health food store escaped without a criminal record but was told by a judge to write a public letter outlining the dangers of taking steroids after he pleaded guilty to selling the drugs from his shop."

"Joao Melo, 28, was handed a conditional discharge and 18 months probation Friday after pleading guilty to six charges of selling the controlled drugs from his shop in Lower Lonsdale."

Athletes trading steroids for hormones.

"Pope said that, increasingly, scientists believe growth hormones, like steroids, may be very effective in building muscles. He has spent the past four years interviewing bodybuilders in Boston, Los Angeles, and Florida, and has found that about 27 percent of them use anabolic steroids and growth hormones simultaneously. A similar study in Wales reached similar findings.

“It leads me to conclude that growth hormone is a rapidly expanding market,’’ Pope said. “It used to be used just by people at the very top, by the people who can afford it,’’ he said. “But as price has come down, it’s being used by everyday athletes.’"

For the most part it's anti-steroid propaganda however the comments on increasing HGH usage are interesting.

Australian customs busts Rugby player for Thai steroid shipments.

It appears the geniuses behind Gay Lube Oil ( rumoured to be AdvancedStealth ) have switched to new labels saying "Quality First Genital Herpes Ointment" and have been caught by Australian Customs mailing stuff from Thailand yet again.

"NSW rugby league player Mitchell Mansfield has been banned from the sport for two years after he was caught importing steroids concealed as herpes ointment."

Two airmail boxes from Thailand, addressed to the Wentworthville Magpies Jim Beam Cup player, were intercepted by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service on July 8."

"The liquid in each vial was analysed and found to contain nandrolone and testosterone, both prohibited substances under the World Anti-Doping Code."

"ASADA Chairman Richard Ings said the case against Mansfield was then strengthened after financial transactions linked to the importation were uncovered during investigations."

Looks like he even sent the WU for the order's payment in his real name :-(

Happy Birthday Arnold Schwarzenegger, 62 today.

Raising the Bar 3 - new documentary.

To view trailers for this new bodybuilding documentary check out the director's blog on this page.

I'm not to keen on the cover above - looks way too gay porn. I would have removed the guys head and gone with something a little less embarassing for straight guys to buy :-)

I'm hoping to get hold of this and Mike's other DVDs soon.

Government going after Ergopharm's and Proviant Technologies assests.

The federal government seeks to seize the headquarters of an Illinois company that makes a nutritional supplement alleged to contain an illegal steroid, after a federal agent bought several bottles of the stuff at a General Nutrition Center store in Nashua last year, court records show.

"The DEA conducted a chemical analysis of the capsules from both bottles which revealed that they did, in fact, contain androstenedione," the complaint states, adding, "Invoices obtained from GNC showed the sale and shipment of 6-OXO Extreme from Proviant Technologies . . . to GNC in November 2008."

The government seeks "to forfeit and condemn" the property in Champaign, Ill., which is owned by Market Street Investment Group, another corporation owned in turn by Patrick Arnold, a chemist who heads Ergopharm.

It seems Patrick Arnold's bad luck never ends, perhaps he should move to China and brew his revenge on the sports world.

FDA warns against body-building products claiming steroids.

"The Food and Drug Administration warned the public Tuesday not to use body-building products marketed as containing steroids or steroid-like substances."

"The affected products are TREN-Xtreme, MASS Xtreme, ESTRO Xtreme, AH-89-Xtreme, HMG Xtreme, MMA-3 Xtreme, VNS-9 Xtreme, and TT-40-Xtreme, the agency said."

"They are sold as muscle stimulants for body builders who want to add muscle, lose weight and retain muscle mass. Sold mostly at gyms, by mail order and over the Internet, the products claim to have steroid-like ingredients but actually contain synthetic steroids, the agency said."

To me selling steroids as 'supplements' ( the majority of which are bought by students ) is far more dishonest and dangerous than what a 'real' steroid dealer does.

Domestic steroid source sentenced.

"A Massachusetts man accused of smuggling steroids, human growth hormone and other illegal prescription drugs into the United States has been sentenced in New Hampshire to 3½ years in prison.

Twenty-seven-year-old Christopher Chase was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to conspiracy and money laundering charges. Prosecutors say he had illegal drugs shipped from China and other countries and then sold them over the Internet, using fake Web sites to trick banks into thinking he was selling legitimate merchandise.

He was accused of mailing more than 500 packages within the United States and abroad between December 2005 and September 2006."

Highlights of the original bust story from 2007.

The three took in at least $670,000 during their illegal operation, prosecutors said.

A federal indictment states the ring imported both legal and illegal prescription drugs that are commonly abused by body builders, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. The drugs are anabolic steroids, human growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor-1 and Clenbueterol.

With the exception of Clenbuterol, the Food and Drug Administration allows the drugs for medical reasons but not for body building. Clenbuterol has not been approved for any use.

Prosecutors say the drugs were imported from China and Eastern Europe and were illegally sold over the Internet across the United States. The indictment says Chase created bank accounts to receive Internet payments and told banks the money was from Web sites that sold legal merchandise such as baseball cards.

It was rather cheeky of them to offer both domestic shipping and credit card payments through their local banks. I wonder what happened to his two business partners ?

Canadian man sentenced to 18 months for selling steroids

"A North Vancouver man arrested for selling steroids has been sentenced to 18 months probation.

Joao Melo appeared in North Vancouver provincial court Friday, July 24, after pleading guilty earlier in June."

According to court documents, Melo and Tran were found in possession of "a derivative of an Anabolic steroid" — a controlled substance — for the purposes of trafficking.

Charges against Tran ( his wife ) were dropped.

US customs seizes 1500 unscheduled tabs from American arriving from Amsterdam.

"Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Detroit Metropolitan Airport seized approximately 1,500 pills of prescribed medications including Glyciphage, Glybovin, Zenflox, Diovan, Osteofos, Piopar, and Restyl being brought into the United States by a U.S. citizen returning from India. All medications require a prescription from a doctor. After contacting the Food and Drug Administration all medications were seized.

The passenger, from Spring Valley, Illinois, arrived on a flight from Amsterdam after a 10-day trip to India. He was referred to secondary for further examination. During the exam of his luggage officers found prescription medications that the individual failed to declare he was bringing into the U.S.

The passenger stated that he had purchased the medication in India for his wife. He stated neither he nor his wife had a prescription for the medication. The individual also had several counterfeit DVDs, computer software and computer games that he failed to declare that were discovered during the exam of his luggage. After all the items were seized, the passenger was allowed to continue his travel."

Australian Rugby player tests positive for Nandrolone.

"Gold Coast Titans youngster Travis Drought has been stood down after he returned a positive drug test to banned performance enhancing substance Nandrolone."

Professional baseball player: 'I took steroids' :-)

"Basically, yeah, I took steroids. I've been on steroids for five years. I'm also taking -- or I was taking up until a day ago, anyway -- human growth hormone, and I've done uppers and abused prescription pain killers. I admit it fully. I'm not going to try to say I got a bad vitamin injection or my cousin and I got it over the counter in a country that doesn't have OTC steroids or any bullcrap like that. I used, I admit it, and I'll see you all again in 50 games or on the flip side."

"Sure, I could wuss out and say my trainer told me this was flaxseed oil, but we're all adults here. We know flaxseed oil doesn't do shit for muscles. Steroids do, though. They do plenty. So does HGH and a bunch of other drugs the labs are designing to be more effective and more difficult to detect."

"So that's what I'm doing. I've used steroids for years, and I didn't get caught because testing is still crap and the designer drugs are years ahead of MLB's testing abilities. And there's a damn good reason for that: You've got a bunch of guys with a really big interest in staying built up, and they've got a lot of money to pay for this stuff."

and yes readers it's all a joke.

Radio interview with Swiss customs about mail order steroids.

"Swiss customs officials have seen a rise in the amount of anabolic steroids being confiscated—the number doubled from 2007 to 2008. And that spike, according to the government, is because more amateurs in Switzerland are turning to the drugs to build muscle and better their sports performance."

South African boxer tests positive.

South African boxing was left dazed and confused on Sunday when it was learnt that Jared Lovett, one of the rising stars of the sport, had tested positive for the use of steroids.

Golden Gloves, Lovett's promoters, said on sunday night that they had been told on Friday by the South African Institute for Drug Free Sport that the 21-year-old Lovett had returned a sample that showed he had used the steroid Stanozolol.

British government releases Drug Misuse survey statistics for 2008-9

The report titled "General population : Extent and trends in drug use"

According to the survey between 1996 and 2008/2009 use of anabolic steroids among 16 to 59 year olds declined.

The statistics also appear to show that the 37 people who admitted to steroid use used no other recreational drugs :-)

Usage of steroids is clearly declining in the UK and the tragic death the press tried to blame on steroids ( that of poor teenager Mathhew Dear ) turned out to have been caused by something else ( which the parents are apparently embarassed about as they have kept the autopsy results secret ).

There has been no update on the case against the three arrested for supplying him either so we can only assume charges were dropped.

Investigation into the world of steroids in New Zealand.

"A registered GP working at an Auckland men's health clinic has described giving steroids to gym-goers and believes members of top New Zealand sports teams are using performance-enhancing drugs. To tell you the truth, very little harm comes from the medical use of this stuff [steroids]. It's the imported stuff that can be dirty, infected."

A dealer in illegal steroids has claimed his clients include police officers, who he said take the drugs to make it easier for them to deal with burly criminals."

"The West Auckland dealer said he was smuggling the steroids in to the country from Thailand, and his customers included police officers."

The TV show Illegal NZ they refer to is online but it is only avaibale to view from NZ IPs :-(

Hopefully there will be a torrent of it made soon.

Fired Y-12 security guard disputes urine test result.

"Walker insists he did nothing wrong. He said he didn't take steroids. He claims he only took legally purchased, over-the-counter supplements, similar to ones he sold to other security guards from a business he ran on the side, Extreme Nutrition."

Not sure that was the smartest comment for him to make, he might get charged with supplying too :-)

Lexington doctor, aide face steroids charges.

A Lexington doctor and his former assistant are charged with obtaining steroids fraudulently, federal officials said Friday.

Dr. Horace Bledsoe Jr., 58, and Amelia Beck, 50, of Newberry were indicted on three counts of stealing steroids for his use, officials said.

The indictment says records were falsified from June 2008 to February, and that the drugs were destroyed.

The pair formerly worked at the Gilbert clinic of Lexington Medical Center, officials said.

Juice driving ends in arrest yet again.

A Waverly man was indicted by a grand jury Friday on six counts of possessing various kinds of steroids.

William D. Welch, 33, of 424 Hillside Ave., was stopped on U.S. 23 by the State Highway Patrol March 8 for speeding. During the stop, deputies allegedly saw a duffel bag with a partially opened shoe box containing several glass vials.

As I've said many times before driving around with steroids in your car is the easiest way to get busted and far riskier than ordering international :-)

Another mainstream news story on American Cellular Labs ( Tren Xtreme and Mass Xtreme ) raid.

"It's one of our more popular products,” Lacy Mundell, an employee at Max Muscle's Oceanside store, said of Tren Xtreme, which sold for $89.99 for 90 tablets. “It's right up there with fat burners. . . . Our biggest thing was word of mouth — people using it and referring their friends."

“In one instance,” Novitzky writes, “a transplant hepatologist in California detailed a 38-year-old male patient, who, after using Tren Xtreme and Mass Xtreme, was hospitalized with severe liver dysfunction and acute renal failure and was going to require kidney dialysis as a result.”

Looks like some ports of entry are not currently scanning all parcels.

"CBP officers working at the international air mail facility near the Philadelphia International Airport selected the parcel for inspection Tuesday. The parcel contained a DVD of the hit Bruce Willis feature, but was unusually heavy for a DVD. Inside the case, officers discovered 99 grams of hashish, about 3.5 ounces. The hashish will be destroyed."

“CBP officers at the air mail facility are extraordinarily skilled at targeting select parcels among the thousands of international air mail parcels that arrive daily, searching for that proverbial illicit needle in the haystack,” said Allan Martocci, CBP port director for Philadelphia. “This is one feature film we’re glad we didn’t miss.”

The parcel was being shipped from Israel to Florida.

During fiscal year 2009, CBP officers at the international air mail facility have seized two shipments of hashish with a combined weight of nearly 5.5 ounces. CBP officers there also seized 88 shipments of Khat weighing nearly 1,900 pounds with a street value of $516,000, two shipments totaling 39 ounces of Gamma Butyrolactone – precursor for the date rape drug, two shipments of synthetic marijuana with a combined weight of 1 pound, 6.46 ounces, and 29 shipments of various anabolic steroids.

Only 29 packs of steroids seized in a year, must be a great area to live in if you order international.

More info on American Cellular Labs ( Tren Xtreme and Mass Xtreme ) raid.

"Federal agents raided a Castro district sports nutrition store and two other locations Thursday, targeting the suspected sale of "nutritional supplements" juiced with BALCO-era steroids."

U.S. Food and Drug Administration agents served search warrants at the Max Muscle store on 16th Street and at the Pacifica home of Maurice Sandoval, who was identified as the owner of a laboratory that markets two heavily advertised supplements called Tren Extreme and Mass Extreme.''

No arrests were made. Agents were seeking evidence of how the drugs were being synthesized and distributed. Investigators believe that some compounds used to create the drugs were being imported illegally from China, the affidavit said."

Two Dietary Supplements Said to Contain Steroids.

"Two over-the-counter dietary supplements that anti-doping officials say are popular among high school football players contain steroids, according to court papers filed by federal authorities on Thursday.

The supplements, Tren Xtreme and Mass Xtreme, are manufactured by American Cellular Labs and marketed as a “potent legal alternative to” steroids. But authorities alleged in search warrants executed on Thursday that the supplements contain illegal man-made steroids, also known as designer steroids. One of the substances is Madol, which was first identified six years ago during the investigation into the Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative."

Desoxymethyltestosterone was invented in 1961 by Max Huffman who obtained a patent on the compound.

Interestingly, although desoxymethyltestosterone is completely synthetic in origin, it is nearly identical in structure to delta2-androstenol, a naturally occurring pheromone produced by elephants and other mammals except for the 17aMethyl which makes it much more stable and orally available as a steroid.

Health Minister from the Bahamas gives silly anti steroid speech in parliament.

"He explained that once the liver is compromised in men as a result of PED use, their female hormones become elevated which can result in the growth of breasts and changes to sexual patterns."

Former Falcon admits to HGH use during MLB career.

"I’m Jim Parque, former major-league pitcher, and I took human growth hormone," he began in his letter to the Sun-Times. "I know that in admitting to this, I am a cheater, a villain and nothing more than a drug user in the eyes of the media and some fans.

Pfizer, Microsoft sue Viagra spammers.

Pfizer filed a dozen lawsuits against Internet pharmacies and spammers, while Microsoft filed five.

Most of the defendants were targeted by only one lawsuit. But two on-line sites — CanadianPharmacy and E-Pharmacy Direct — were the subject of lawsuits by both Microsoft and Pfizer.

Besides CanadianPharmacy and E-Pharmacy Direct, the lawsuits target 10 other on-line pharmacies, including half- price -viagra. com and cheap viagra store.com.

Another positive test for the MMA scene.

"Josh Barnett, scheduled to fight Fedor Emelianenko on Affliction's fight card Aug. 1 in Anaheim, Calif., tested positive for an anabolic steroid, the California State Athletic Commission announced Wednesday, and will not receive a license to fight."

( Edited following comments :-) I actually thought Affliction was the name of UFC event, had no idea there was another company doing fights, they certainly don't do a good job of publicising themselves outside of the USA )

Welsh ex-policeman in court for steroid distribution.

"A former police officer was today accused of masterminding a bodybuilding drug racket.

Justin Weaver stood down from his job as a constable with the Metropolitan Police after he was arrested earlier this year.

He was the target of an internal police corruption probe into the alleged sale of steroids via a network in south Wales."

A FORMER police officer is among five Swansea men charged with conspiracy to supply steroids in South Wales.

His co-defendants are 51-year-old John Griffiths, of Neath Road, Andrew Surman, aged 32, of Heol y Gors, Townhill, Leighton Hackles, aged 32, of Meadow Rise, Townhill, and former ambulanceman Alan Dutton, aged 37, of Birchgrove Road, Birchgrove.

Weaver, Griffiths, Surman and Hackles are charged with conspiring together between August 2008 and December 2008 to supply steroid drugs.

Dutton and Weaver are separately charged with conspiring together to supply the Class C drug.

Dutton is charged with being concerned in the fraudulent evasion of a prohibition on the importation of goods ( smuggling ), namely Class C drugs, between July 2007 and February 2009.

It would be nice to have some details of the alleged conspiracy.

"Cooperstown and the 'Roids" a realistic look at steroids in Baseball.

"If we look into the future, then, we can reliably foresee a time in which everybody is going to be using steroids or their pharmaceutical descendants.

We will learn to control the health risks of these drugs, or we will develop alternatives to them.

Once that happens, people will start living to age 200 or 300 or 1,000, and doctors will begin routinely prescribing drugs to help you live to be 200 or 300 or 1,000. If you look into the future 40 or 50 years, I think it is quite likely that every citizen will routinely take anti-aging pills every day. "

Indians giving info on counterfeit drugs will now get rewarded.

"According to the policy, the reward — a maximum of 20% of the total cost of consignments seized — will be payable to the informer which should not exceed Rs 25 lakh in each case. In respect to an officer in the government or in the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), the reward will not exceed Rs 5 lakh for one case and a maximum of Rs 30 lakh in his or her entire service."

Health ministry, however, estimates that 5% of drugs sold in India are counterfeit while 0.3% are spurious. A counterfeit medicine is one that has no active ingredient or is an expired drug which has been re-labelled and sold. It's different from a fake drug, which may not resemble the original in any way.

Only 5% od drugs sold in India are fake because most fakes are exported :-)

Platelet Rich Plasma therapy for joint injury.

"We draw the patient's blood then we bring it over to the machine which spins it," Dr. Potter said.

The machine separates the heavier platelet rich plasma and deposits it in a small syringe. The doctor then injects that directly into the injured area.

"So what we're doing is magnifying the natural healing response the body already has," Dr Potter said."

Ireland releases pharmaceutical seizure statistics for 2008.

"Internet prescription shopping.

ONE ROUTE many people may be considering travelling down in search of cheaper prescription drugs is via the web. Online pharmacies have grown into a big business in the US, the UK and continental Europe but it’s against the law to buy drugs online and the Irish Medicines Board has a rigorous policing system in place.

Last week Pat O’Mahony, chief executive of the Irish Medicines Board (IMB) said a total of 299,053 tablets, 55,789 capsules, 24 litres of liquids and 36.5kg of creams were seized last year, being illegally imported after they were ordered on the internet.

The IMB works closely with customs officials when it comes to tracing drugs being bought over the web, but the risk of getting caught is not the only problem."

Open Letter to Alin (Balkan) from William Llewelyn / BodyofScience.com

"Alin,

Regardless off your actions, the results of our lab tests will not change. They will reflect the quality of your company. I hope for your sake that you have been working as hard at quality control as you claim. I don't have the results yet, but am told reports will be in next week.

Readers should know that Balkan pharmaceuticals has been (BY FAR, LEAPS AND BOUNDS OVER ALL OTHER LABS) the most difficult company to deal with since this book was announced. Most labs have been cooperative. Even those with issues on early bacteria tests have generally been very willing to assist us or even address report issues. Not Alin. Instead, this is how he deals with us.

1) While most other labs refused also, Alin, having professed to us privately many times to have the best QC in the business, refused to send in any samples for testing even though we had a strong open dialog. Even though he would have had total control over when he sent, he sent nothing. We had to get from the black market, like most.

2) Alin tried to convince us to let his private lab do all the testing for the book. We refused for obvious reasons.

3) We were very quickly offered a lucrative advertising contract to remove Balkan from the UG book. We refused.

4) Alin next spent a great deal of time emailing us questioning our testing methods. We have not even released any reports, but he had been complaining relentlessly that they cannot be accurate.

5) It has since become very ugly. Alin has continued to email, threatening to expose us for taking bribes, running underground labs, many things that are completely untrue and very insulting. Many of these same accusations later appeared on other blogs, crediting "anonymous sources" for the information. It is very clear to me that he wants to discredit us and our efforts before they are even released.

6) He's threatened to expose our private personal information.

7) He has threatened to retaliate legally and otherwise if he doesn't agree with what we say in the book.

8) While I cannot prove Alin was behind it, our site was closed from a DoS attack. The most active country of attack was Moldova.

I just want to make sure, Alin, that you are aware that your behavior has no effect on the book. No matter how insulting you may be, it will not change my ability to publish an impartial book. If your company is good, the reports will show this. But with all this behavior, I am very concerned you know already there will be problems. I hope I am wrong.

I have been the direct subject to his hostile emails and attacks for weeks, and am getting tired of it. I will not let Alin effect my impartiality. If I did, he would in effect get a victory. So, I can just complain about it. Which I will continue to do for as long as you keep up this shit.

I will post the truth Alin, you can try and discredit me with lies. We'll see who people support in the end."

Internet dealer from Massachusetts busted in 2007 finally sentenced.

"According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, in 2007, PAULINE distributed anabolic steroids by mail to individuals who contacted him over the Internet, including customers in Connecticut. PAULINE had advertised the sale of anabolic steroids on Internet message boards such as "TheHouseofJuice.com."

"This matter stems from Operation Phony Pharm, an investigation headed by the FBI's Healthcare Fraud Unit in the District of Connecticut."

"In sentencing PAULINE below the recommended guideline range of 24 to 30 months of imprisonment, Judge Burns noted that PAULINE had stopped distributing steroids prior to his awareness that he was the target of a federal investigation, and that PAULINE has spent time recently discussing his criminal conduct with high school students and educating them as to the dangers associated with steroids use."

Who wouldn't close down if they knew they were the target of a federal investigation :-)

TheHouseofJuice.com is still up and running, strange it's the only forum they have named.

Latest British anti-steroid propaganda.

News story from the BBC entitled "More Asian Teens Using Steroids" ( In England the term 'Asian' normally refers to people from Pakistan, India etc rather than it's US meaning of those from China, Vietnam, Korea etc ).

The highlights are below :-

"Needle exchange centres in Luton have also reported a significant increase in Asian men using their services. They said 84% of Asians visiting them take steroids."

Which is of course far better than them using 'real' drugs isn't it ? I'm glad to hear they are being responsible and making use of needle exchanges.

"They do work, that's what we are up against - we can't argue, we have to accept they do work."

Maybe one day they will start to admit that they are relatively safe too.

"They don't see it as drug use they see it as a supplement to training regime. They will often go into a shop thinking you can buy them over the counter."

What kind of shop would that be ? I thing most people in the UK know they have to buy them on the blackmarket.

"The practice around here is people who sell it will give them the first few injections."

Sounds to me like the dealers may be older guys trying to meet younger asian men :-)

"I think if I stopped I wouldn't feel as good or great about myself. A lot of girls come to you and look at your biceps - it can be quite flattering at times," said Abu. If I don't train I get depressed, I don't feel as good. When I train I feel happy."

I hope in the future the powers that be will realise that most AS users are healthier and happier than their non using peers.

Even more info ( and video link ) on Utah bust.

"He was making designer steroids," task force agent Brian Bairett told KSL NewsRadio on Thursday. "He was making steroids in a lab in his home and distributing them to the community. We intercepted a couple of his loads and doing surveillance of who he was selling to."

Police said Sherratt was selling to people in the community including local bodybuilders. He also had an extensive internet-based clientele, Bairett said.

"He had a price list that he was e-mailing to all of his clients. He'd say ‘Fourth of July sale' for this time period only," he said.

Drug task force agents seized Sherratt's computers and were investigating rumors that college athletes may have also been buyers, authorities said. At Sherratt's home, Bairett said they also seized testosterone, Cialis and Viagra, and "something they inject in horses."

"Police say Mark Sherratt had been ordering steroids in powder form from Hong Kong, then brewing up the performance enhancers in his home laboratory. He allegedly made his deals through e-mails, and the buyer would show up at his Liberty Lending office, 110 N. Main, to pick up the stash."

"A month ago, the task force received an anonymous tip about Sherratt's entrepreneur business. A week before they'd arrested two men who'd allegedly bought drugs from Sherratt. Their names and descriptions were not released."

This may well be the most dangerous method of online steroid dealing I've ever heard. I assume he'll be using roid related insanity as his defense in court. I seriously doubt this guy was smart enough to home brew a safe end product. The chances of emails and order records being encrypted must be close to zero :-(

More info on Utah bust.

The Iron-Garfield Narcotics Task Force received an anonymous tip about a month ago and began surveillance. After gathering evidence, they raided the man's home and business, finding a full steroids lab in the home.

"We found all the ingredients to make designer steroids," said task force agent Brian Bairett. "He had all the bottles and a capping machine, burners, glassware and we found the powders he had shipped in from China."

The suspect, who was held at the Iron County jail but has bailed out, allegedly sold to local bodybuilders and may have shipped his products via UPS, Bairett said. The suspect sent e-mails to his buyers, often "having sales, just like JC Penney's would," Bairett said.

The task force must still do more investigating, including sifting through the suspect's seized computers, before knowing what specific charges will be filed. There is a potential he would be prosecuted federally if he shipped drugs out of state.

"We knew he had the stuff, and we knew what he was doing and we didn't want any more of it distributed in our community," Bairett said. "So, we dealt with it."

Suspect is out on bail so if he's a decent chap he'll be able to warn his online and local friends what to expect.

UFC 100 Fighters Test Clean for Steroids and Drugs.

"13 fighters from the 11-bout UFC 100 card, which took place last Saturday and the Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas, were tested by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for steroids and drugs of abuse and all of the tests were negative according to NSAC executive director Keith Kizer, who confirmed the results to MMAFrenzy.com on Friday.

The UFC 100 fighters which were tested were Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar, Georges St-Pierre, Thiago Alves, Shannon Gugerty, Jon Fitch, Dan Henderson, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Mark Coleman, Tom Lawlor, Jon Jones, Dong Hyun Kim, and Dan Miller.

Undeground lab raided in Utah.

"Iron/Garfield Counties Narcotics Task Force officers arrested a local businessman, Friday, after receiving information about and subsequently clearing out a steroids lab at his residence, said task force officer Melissa Fritz-Fuller on Wednesday.

Mark X was arrested on charges of possession, manufacture and distribution, as well as possession of a clandestine laboratory, a second-degree felony, according to arrest reports.

The lab was similar to one used to make meth, Fritz-Fuller said, and officers found hazardous powders imported from China to make the steroids, as well as glassware, bottles and labeling.

The powders, testosterone and anabolic steroids found are controlled substances, which can be prosecuted both locally and federally, Fritz-Fuller added.

The officer also noted that selling steroids on the streets is a very lucrative business, sometimes with a 1,500 percent markup from a real prescription, but with more risks without the sterile environment for manufacture.

She estimated Sherratt possessed near $200,000 worth of powders for the steroids, paying only a couple hundred for the Chinese imports.

The task force is still investigating the case, but has evidence to believe Sherratt had a fairly large local clientele, at local gyms."

Hoping a reader will comment and let us know the brand name his products were sold under.

Another herbal V "Libipower Plus" recalled

"Haloteco is conducting this recall after being informed by the representative of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that lab analysis of Libipower Plus samples found that the product contained Tadalalafil which is the active ingredient of FDA approved drugs for Erectile Dysfunction (ED). The product label doesn’t states it contain tadalafil. The undeclared ingredients may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs such as nitroglycerin and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates. Additionally, the product may cause side effects, such as headaches and flushing."

Extended sleep may give athletes a boost.

"Cheri Mah, a researcher at the Stanford Sleep Disorders Clinic and Research Laboratory and lead author of the study, acknowledged that the athletes didn't always hit the 10-hour mark. But they noticed a difference even if sleep was extended by a half-hour, she says: The athletes' sprinting drills were faster, their hitting was more accurate and deeper, and their mood improved."

Doctor sentenced in steroids case.

"A federal judge in Mobile has sentenced a Colorado doctor to 21 months in prison for dispensing anabolic steroids outside his professional practice.

Chief U.S. District Judge Ginny Granade sentenced Dr. Kelly Wade Tucker of Greeley, Colo., on Tuesday.

The case stemmed from an inquiry into a Mobile pharmacy that prosecutors contend has shipped steroids illegally to hundreds of people.

A plea agreement signed by Tucker states that a company founded by Brett Branch sent Tucker order forms for patients seeking steroids and human growth hormone.

Branch is scheduled to go on trial in January."

Link to original story from AL back in January of this year.

"Dr. Kelly Wade Tucker stood before a federal judge this afternoon and took his medicine -- a year and 9 months in prison for dispensing anabolic steroids outside the course of professional practice.

The Greeley, Colo., man became the first physician sentenced in a wide-ranging probe into a Mobile pharmacy that prosecutors contend has shipped steroids illegally to hundreds of people across the country."

Poles suckers for fake medicine.

"WHO adds that it is particularly easy to purchase false drugs in Poland as one can acquire medication through the internet – on auction sites and on sites who claim to be pharmacies.

According to WHO, Poles spend around 100 million zloty a year on fake medicine – most often on sexual performance, weight loss and psychotropic drugs.

Cases have been regularly reported in the press, however, of Poles being taken for a ride by unscrupulous dealers. Recently a teenager from Silesia took Chinese booster drugs that turned out to contain significant quantities of lead. A resident of Elk, northern Poland, was arrested three weeks ago for ser seg false sexual enhancement drugs over the internet – made of plaster. "

Two Natural Oils Induce Weight Loss, Lower Body Fat.

"Despite the fact there was no dieting or exercising, the study found that CLA supplementation significantly decreased the women's BMI and total body fat. Usually these effects became evident in the last eight weeks of each 16 week period. On average their total body fat decreased by 3.2 percent, reducing the weight of excess fat tissue between 2.3 pounds and 3.5 pounds.

While the safflower oil didn't change total body fat readings, in some ways this all vegetable "good fat" was the biggest star of the research. It reduced the weight of trunk fat tissue by between 2.6 pounds and 4.2 pounds -- an average of more than six percent. What's more, safflower oil increased lean tissue, or muscle, by about two to three pounds.

To add to the good news, safflower oil was found to reduce fasting blood sugar levels in these diabetic women between 11 and 19 points. "Lowering fasting glucose is important for these women. The overall effect ect ust 16 weeks wasn't bringing them back to normal, but safflower oil still improved it significantly," Martha Belury, professor of human nutrition at Ohio State University and senior author of the study, said in a statement to the media."

Fake Viagra distributor in Israel caught with pants down.

Thousands of fake Viagra and Cialis pills were recently seized in a joint effort by the Israel Police and the Health Ministry's Unit Against Pharmaceutical Crime.

A few weeks ago, the authorities received information that an importer and distributor of sex toys had imported large amounts of empty capsules and sold them to the illegal drug industry whose products are sold in kiosks. The drug unit of the Customs Authority at Ben-Gurion Airport was informed.

Inspectors examined shipments brought in by this importer, and the empty capsules were found. No legal documents were available. More recently it was learned that this same man distributes large amounts of phoney Viagra and Cialis pills. A Petah Tikva warehouse owned by the importer was searched, and 1,500 pills were found. Legitimate erectile function pills sell for about NIS 60 apiece, thus the potential black-market profits are huge. The man was arrested and is being questioned by the police.

Germany cracking down on online Viagra sales.

"German customs authorities said Wednesday they had smashed a ring selling millions of counterfeit male potency tablets online from India and other Asian countries after raids in five cities.

The operation involving 60 customs officerscersseven prosecutors and 25 tax investigators turned up a stockpile of 46,000 pills destined for mail-order distribution, the customs office in the western city of Essen said.

Seven people were detained in the raids throughout the surrounding Ruhr Valley region carried out in early May after a months-long probe. Four have since been remanded in custody.

"The medication, which requires a prescription, was sold via so-called online pharmacies on the Internet," the customs office said in a statement."

Huge Sildenafil Citrate seizure in South Africa.

"In a separate incident at the airport on Thursday, police discovered 130kg of Viagra valued at R11.2m on an aircraft from Singapore.

This consignment had no address, meaning that it was an inside job from that country's cargo officials, said Golding.

"Cargo in Singapore should have disallowed the consignment as it had no address," she said."

"On the juice" long article about Canadian steroid scene.

After a request for M1Ts -- the term for a kind of steroid the newspaper had been told could be had at the store -- its manager removed a dark plastic bottle, containing 90 pills, from a medium-sized cardboard box, kept behind the counter. He rang in the $90 -- cash only and no tax -- purchase on his cash register and the Mercury staff member left with bottle in hand. The bottle's multicoloured label marked the product as M1T.

Subsequent testing at a private Canadian laboratory, revealed the white capsules inside that bottle, contained 17-methyltestosterone and methandrostenolone. According to Health Canada, these are anabolic steroids. They are controlled substances and as such can't be legally sold except under prescription.

( I'm hoping a few of our braver Canadian readers will try to get some products tested at CanTest )

India's largest drug maker Ranbaxy to make HGH soon.

"Ranbaxy Laboratories is planning a new growth hormone product to target the emerging global market for new versions of patent-expired biotech drugs, a person familiar with the development said."

HGH and bodybuilding discussed by contestants on US Big Brother.

"Jesse talks about not bringing his posing trunks and Chima asks about how they know that he is all natural and he says that they test for that. Jesse says that human growth hormone also counts. Chima says that brother was taking it for a different reason. Jesse says that HTH doesn't have any bad side effects for the first six months and that all kinds of body builders use it, but your organs grow and your intestines grow and it is with you for the rest of your life. He says that it is not healthy and body builders today look like a frog with a big head and body and small extremities. He says that it can be good for people who have been injured and need muscles to grow back fast. He says that he is not against it, but he chose to go natural and natural body builders look like deformed swimmers. He says that he is pro so he doesn't look like that of course, but imagine Michael Phelps as a body builder. He says that Olympic Athletes are blood tested because it will look bad for their products. He says that he wanted to find a company that..... (feeds switch)."

Sadly I've yet to see what Jesse the bodybuilder looks like :-)

Rapamycin extends life of mammals.

"Rapamycin, a drug commonly used in humans to prevent transplanted organs from being rejected, has been found to extend the lives of mice by up to 14% — even when given to the mice late in life.

In flies and worms, drug treatments have been shown to prolong lifespan, but until now, the only robust way to extend life in mammals has been to heavily restrict diet.

The researchers caution, however, that using this drug to extend the lifespan of humans might be problematic because it suppresses the immune system — potentially making people who take it more susceptible to infectious diseases."

"Sirolimus aka Rapamycin is a potent immunosuppressant. Sirolimus, Rapamycin, possesses both antifungal and antineoplastic properties."

Steroid bust in Owensboro, Kentucky.

"An Owensboro couple is charged with concealing evidence in a steroid investigation.

Prosecutors said 31-year-old Mary Kay Hamilton and 41-year-old Jimmie Lynn Garrison hid anabolic steroids from federal agents.

Garrison is also charged, along with three other defendants, for conspiring to distribute anabolic steroids."

Turns out this is actually all due to a bust back in December 2008 :

"
An investigation into the distribution of anabolic steroids in Daviess County has led to the indictment of four men with local ties, including a college professor, a youth baseball coach and a bodybuilding champion."

UK Gym sales of Kamagra foiled.

"A father-of-eight who planned to sell an illicit Viagra-type drug to his fellow gymnasium users has been spared prison. Andrew Gittins bought 4,600 Kamagra tablets over the internet, intending to sell them on at five times the price he had paid.

A court heard how the drug, which is not licensed for sale in the UK, was delivered to his home in Peterborough. The haul was discovered just a few days later when police raided Gittins’ house as part of an unrelated investigation."

Steroid and liquid H bust in Houston, Texas.

Customs seizure of Mexican HGH kits and car fought in San Diego court.

"Federal agents seized a man's prescription medication at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry though he had a valid prescription from a U.S. doctor, the man claims in Federal Court.

David H. Brown says Customs agents seized his "cooler containing 26 5 mg vials of Humatrope ... a synthetic form of human growth hormone," and refuse to return it, despite his valid prescription. Human growth hormone, which is prescribed for endocrine problems, has made news headlines because professional athletes have abused it to improve their performance.

Brown claims that a Customs and Border Protection Agency wrongfully seized his medication and his car. He says that he brought a legal amount of medication into the country for personal use, and Customs had no right to seize it. He wants his medicine back, plus costs and damages."

Study on exercise and hormone release.

"A vigorous 60-minute workout on a treadmill affects the release of two key appetite hormones, ghrelin and peptide YY, while 90 minutes of weight lifting affects the level of only ghrelin, according to a new study. Taken together, the research shows that aerobic exercise is better at suppressing appetite than non-aerobic exercise and provides a possible explanation for how that happens."

Yet another Chinese Herbal Viagra contains the real thing.

"The product “Kam Yuen Brand Xue Guan Qing Dao Fu Tablet” contains a chemical called “sildenafil” which is not stated on the labelling, according to information from the Hong Kong Health Services that also urged the public not buy or consume the product.

Stock up while you can :-)

Frisco police detail guns, steroids found in home after standoff.

"Frisco police confiscated two guns and five bottles of steroids from the home of Paul Clarence Bailey, who was arrested last week after police say he shot at them during a welfare check.

Items taken from Bailey's home in the 6500 block of Winston Drive near Hillcrest Road and College Parkway included three bottles of Nandrolona 300, one bottle of Cypionato 200 and one bottle of Dianabolona 50. Versions of all three are listed as anabolic/androgenic steroids."

I'm not quite sure what a welfare check is but I don't think I want one any time soon.

This case again highlights the importance of keeping your stash very well hidden even in your own home.

More anti-steroid propaganda from UK.

"Optima Hair Specialists - which supplies advanced hair replacement systems - has seen a 60 per cent increase* in enquiries from men who have taken anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) and suffered early hair loss as a result."

If it's true they must be laughing all the way to the bank and shouldn't be bitching about it.

Unless you have a twin who doesn't use and you do how on earth would you really know your hairloss is premature ?

Drug dogs now trained to smell steroids ?

Orvis and Nia, who works with Detective Jodi Novella, graduated from the State Police K-9 Academy last month. The two dogs were driven up to the academy in Meriden each day by their handlers and spent five weeks in training with the academy staff and six more in tandem with their partners, Novella said.

The dogs are trained to sniff out eight scents: including steroids.

When will the new fragrance "Juice pour Homme" be launched ? Joking aside it would be interesting to know which odour typical of steroids the dogs are trained to pick up on. I presume it's the solvents or oils rather than the API's themselves.

Precog blogger predicts huge steroid bust :-)

"This will be huge. Not a run of the mill bust. The connections to this bust will be felt widespread. Karma will once again sweep in and expose many to the public eye. Top athletes, celebrities, etc. Some will be very surprised who is connected to this bust. Possibly computer files or ledgers are confiscated. This investigation has been going on for some time. Undercover operation etc. Many arrests worldwide. This bust may uncover some other type of criminal ring. Some local people where I live may be connected to this drug ring. Very newsworthy!"

Google translation of "Bulgaria's National Revenue Agency catch illegal anabolic steroids producer"

A little hard to understand but you'll get the general idea.

First athlete caught doping based on evidence from biological passport.

"Speed skater Claudia Pechstein is believed to be the first athlete sanctioned via evidence from a biological passport, which underlines that doping issues in Germany can be quite unusual."

HGH pill spammers forced to return $3.7 million.

"A U.S. district court has ordered key players in an international spam ring to give up $3.7 million they made by sending out illegal email messages pitching bogus Hoodia weight-loss products and a "human growth hormone" pill they claimed reversed the aging process.

In a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) law enforcement action, the court found that the five defendants, located in Canada and St. Kitts, violated the FTC Act and CAN-SPAM Act by participating in the spam operation. The court order bars the defendants from violating the CAN-SPAM Act and from making false or unsubstantiated claims about the health benefits of any food, drug, or dietary supplement."

Spanish drug crack down ( Operation Diver II )

"In this case, the Civil Guard has seized several boats used for smuggling hashish and seized one tonne of the drug stored in a garage in Algeciras. Some of the detainees also trafficked designer drugs (X), cola and anabolic steroids, and had illegal relations with Basque-French citizens residing in towns near the border of Irún, several of whom were also detained in the course of proceedings."

Story just broke hopefully some more news will emerge on the steroid side of things.

Steroids co uk domain name sold for 5000 UK pounds.

Sale was via auction on Sedo currently being used for PPC advertising.

This if my memory serves me correctly was the domain being used by a British source who got busted several years ago. I wonder if he has held on to it all this time :-)

2010 update it's now owned by LA Muscle a British supplement company who has bought loads of steroid related .co.uk domains.

Interesting new secure webmail company.

Turkish goverment gives advice on avoiding counterfeits.

"Risky sources to buy medicines in Turkey include the Internet, barters between pharmacies, as well as street salesmen in places like Istanbul’s Tahtakale, where it is possible to find all kinds of counterfeit pharmaceuticals. Also, border areas near Georgia, Syria and Iran are hotspots for counterfeit products."

The number of incidents caused by counterfeit medicine totaled 1,834 around the world in 2008. The most recent raid in Turkey against counterfeit pharmaceuticals took place in Istanbul in April, which led to 64 arrests and the confiscation of 184,000 boxes of counterfeit products. The value of the confiscated products is estimated at 132 million Turkish Liras."

Of course they blame neighbouring countries :-)

Positive Testosterone article and video from ABC Health.

"The truth about testosterone! Learn why it's good for men and your relationship. Dr. Paul Turek of the Turek Clinic explains."

Testosterone causes uncontrollable violent behavior. False.

Testosterone causes prostate cancer. False

High testosterone levels cause baldness. False

This is probably the most pro Testosterone report I have ever seen :-)

Danabol DS through the years.

Here's my collection of Danabol DS tub samples. All were purchased from the same Thai pharmacy over the last 7 years. As you can see there have been several variations in wording and colouring.

Last weekend I found some posted pics of Danabol DS being sold in the UK which I'm pretty sure are copies, packaging looked perfect but the tabs themselves were poorly mixed ( specks of dark blue and white ) and I'm pretty sure the shape was slightly wrong having a wide lip that the real ones don't. Next time I have access to my samples I'll shoot a comparison shot of the tabs from each of the batches shown in the pic above I'm guessing that despite the packaging changes the tabs themselves will be identical.

Pic of real Danabol tab link.

Current Danabol tab is on the left of the pic and has a nice even blue colour with no visible dark or white specks.

Androgel or Testim users wanted for Androxal clinical trials.

If have been using testosterone gels for 6 months or longer then you might be eligible for Androxal's ( enclomiphene citrate) clinical trials.

New drug testing method looks for biological changes that could be indications of doping.

"What has happened has been described … as almost an arms race between the potential [for doping] and the techniques for the detection of doping," Barton said.

Whereas small molecule-based methods for detecting steroids look for the presence of the drugs themselves either in urine or blood, a biomarker-based strategy, such as that being developed by Quotient Bioresearch, identifies biological changes that suggest steroid use."

More silly PED stats from Britian.

"But possibly a more acute problem in the UK is the effect the pressures of looking good seem to be having on our fitness fanatics.

A survey of male and female gym users found that 10 per cent used diuretics, 14 per cent had taken insulin, 24 per cent a growth hormone and 44 per cent had used ephedrine to boost their fitness.

And the issue of body dysmorphia is increasing in young men so that steroids remain the most abused drug, and even seven per cent of women admit to taking them. This is still abuse of medications, even if it's not the addictive ones."

Where do they even find people who would be willing to take this kind of survey ?
