Diet kills 25-year-old Russian bodybuilder.
“I had very hard trainings five times a week. And during the two-week period before the competition my diet became much stricter – I was abstaining from drinking any liquid for three days,” said Denis Sarychev told reporters right after his victory.
Five days later Denis fell ill and then found himself at hospital. And two weeks later Denis died of renal insufficiency.
Doctors of the hospital where Denis spent his last days refused to give any comments.
“Any diet is a huge stress for the human organism. Especially when the diet is so strict. Extreme physical activities and dehydration of the organism in a combination with a high protein diet could easily provoke severe renal insufficiency. However, it is quite difficult to say for sure what really caused the athlete’s death, because he did not turn to medical specialists as soon as he felt ill,” says Natalia Tiugaeva, a Healthcare Ministry official in the Penza region said."
Two Kiwi bodybuilders on trial.
The men, from West Auckland, are nutritionist and former Mr New Zealand Marc William Rainbow, 42, and personal trainer Andrew James Van Lent, 24.
He and his business partner ( it's not clear if Lent is the partner we suspect the two cases discussed in the article are unrelated ) were allegedly importing the steroids through their business, SSIS Pharmaceuticals, and selling hundreds of bottles to individuals.
Rainbow was the first New Zealand bodybuilder to turn professional and competed successfully in the United States in the 90s. He won the Mr New Zealand title twice and Mr Australia title once. Rainbow will be back in the Auckland District Court next month.
Van Lent's case is going through the Waitakere District Court; he appeared last week and will be back at the end of June. He faces 51 charges of importing, improperly labelling and packaging, selling and possessing steroids.
The documents show Van Lent allegedly got the drugs into New Zealand through the mail system, addressing the packages to six different people. This importing allegedly occurred over just three days in October and the packages contained everything from blue heart-shaped pills ( Thai Danabol DS ) to sachets of jelly ( Kamagra ) and hundreds of ampoules. The documents also detail the huge stash of drugs Van Lent was allegedly caught with in late January: 1524 pills and capsules in zip-lock bags; two types of powdered steroid; a vial of testosterone and two dropper bottles of other steroids - one labelled "The best aromatherapy in the USA!".
Mark Rainbow competed in the IFBB and used to manage a gym called Les Mills North East. He was a member of several social networking sites including Xing and Facebook.British gym owning couple and two friends jailed for manufacturing and supplying steroids.
Neil and Toni XXXXX, Ian XXXXXXXXX and Ian XXXXXXXX were all sentenced at court today (Friday, May 29) after they were charged with a range of drugs offences.
The group were among 17 people arrested following the execution of drugs warrants at 16 homes and three businesses in Matlock, Chesterfield, Derby and Buxton on Wednesday, July 2 and Thursday, July 3 2008."
"The five were charged with offences including manufacturing unlicensed medicine, supplying class C steroids, conspiracy to market unlicensed medicines, conspiracy to produce unlicensed medicines and drugs possession."
Original bust story from July.
"Neil XXXXX produced unlicensed slimming and body-building supplements from Fitness Forum, in Matlock – within a few hundred metres of County Hall.
The 39-year-old also manufactured the illegal medicines at another gym he owned in Chesterfield called Pro Flex, where he also sold steroids."
He was jailed for two years at Derby Crown Court yesterday. Three others who helped him either manufacture or sell the drugs were also sentenced.XXXXX had a machine that created capsules of the drugs in a secure room at the Matlock gym. A price list in the two gyms included the unlicensed products, said David Herbert, prosecuting.
The court heard how XXXXX's wife, Toni, had helped her husband with the financial administration and marketing of the products for their company, Slim Magic"
Intro from the slimmagic site the couple ran from 2004 until 2008.
They had two herbal diet capsule products one called CALAREX and the other DYMEPHEDRA and also a carb blocker product called PHASE-2. I suspect the CALAREX actually contained "silbutramine" ( the API in Reductil ) and that their DYMEPHEDRA product really contained "ephedrine hcl", the exact details of what they were doing has not been released to the press.
One of the two friends Ian XXXXXXXXX, 43, who owned a legal nutritional products company, appears to have conspired with XXXXX to manufacture either injectable steroids or methyl testosterone capsules. ( the press release is a little vague ).
"The four defendants admitted offences that included conspiring to market unlicensed medicines; conspiring to produce unlicensed medicines; conspiring to manufacture unlicensed medicines and conspiring to supply Class C drugs, steroids.
Stephen Cobley, for Ratcliffe, said the defendant was not operating a "back street venture". Instead he believed the medicines to be legal and so recklessly committed the crime rather than deliberately.
But Mr Cobley said his client could not say the same for the anabolic steroids he had been supplying. Jonathan Carroll, for Neil Ogden, said his client accepted selling steroids at the Chesterfield gym but not the Matlock one."
The use of steroids and other P.E.Ds defended by academics.
Morgan also believes there should be a distinction drawn between drugs that help athletes recover from injury or heavy training and things like beta blockers, which he would ban, that address an athlete's anxiety, nerves or mental toughness, which he suggested is really what athletic competition is all about.
"(Are recovery-aiding steroids) really that different than giving somebody a pain-killing shot? Is it really different than Gatorade? I mean, if you're a heat-sensitive athlete and you can take a drink that has certain chemical in it to restore your electrolyte balance, why doesn't anyone have a problem with that?''
Personally I have no issue with athletes using relatively safe drugs like steroids and hgh.
Rather than random testing for PED's I suggest we switch to random health screening of athletes to make sure they are being sensible with their chosen drug regimes.
Attorney of busted Texans claims authorities went too far in drug bust.
"They had no right to search the home," Rosen said. "They had absolutely no right to search the homes. They had no right to rummage through the home. They had no right going upstairs."
What's more, Rosen insists, the officers used excessive force in conducting the arrests of two of his clients, breaking down doors and in one case, with guns drawn, forced a suspect's wife and 3-year-old daughter against a wall.
Rosen wouldn't reveal the names of his clients so authorities couldn't comment on specific arrests, but generally, the chief Fort Bend County narcotics prosecutor says on felony charges like these, officers are allowed to forcibly enter a home, that they can do what's necessary immediately to neutralize any potential threat."

Florida's officials tracing sources of seized steroids.
"My first concern is how did he get these things from Iran and Pakistan?" Judd asked. "I mean, after all if that can be imported from Iran and Pakistan, what else, and that scares me."
U.S. and Border Protection Public Information Officer Dan Keefe said one way drugs like these can get into the country is legally and then sold with fake prescriptions. Another way is legally imported by one person, and then sold illegally to another. They can also be smuggled or brought in as chemicals and then made and distributed against the law. In some cases, a third country can serve as a conduit to the United States.
"They're probably imported into another country that does deal with Iran and then falsely claimed as that country of origin when they are shipped here if they're shipped in legally," Keefe said. "If they're shipped in illegally, then somebody smuggles then into the border of Iran into a country we do have dealings with and then they smuggle them into this country."
More info on the Florida steroid dealer's bust.

It looks like this is the package that was used in the controlled delivery. It's large enough to have contained about 40 10ml vials of Genesis brand injectables. The packaging is rather unusual as the vials still in their original boxes appear to have been wrapped in silver plastic foil. According to the note ( written I presume by LE ) the pack contained EQ, Deca and Testosterone Enanthate from Genesis along with some Omnadren amps. I doubt there are many internationals who sell both Genesis and Omnadren. If you recognize the silver plastic packing method and are expecting a delivery of your own soon it's probably a very good time to clean house.
This picture is a better one of the Chinese tabs which we presume are from IP.The NY Daily News even went to visit him in jail.
"The Florida bodybuilder who told authorities that he supplied illegal performance-enhancing drugs to big-league athletes says he got into steroids because he wanted to emulate his hero, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In an exclusive jailhouse interview with the Daily News, Richard “Andy” Thomas said he was too small to play high school sports, but he was inspired to bulk up with steroids by Schwarzenegger, the bodybuilding champion and action-flick star who is now the governor of California."
Australian triathlete banned for attempted Thai tablet shipment.
The sanction stems from a failed attempt by 31-year-old Hollands to import anabolic steroids from Thailand. Investigations into the attempted importation began when the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service intercepted a package addressed to Hollands in March last year.
Customs discovered the package contained the prohibited anabolic steroid methandienone (Dianabol) disguised as financial statements, before alerting ASADA."
You have to wonder why any professional athlete would risk ordering juice using their real name and address :-(
Sounds like the tabs were flat packed between sheets of paper and sent in a document pack ( not exactly the most original form of packaging )

EAD officals have confirmed to News Channel 25 that Larry Woodard was on duty when he was arrested.
Woodard is alleged to have been trafficking steroids and Oxycuntin. He is being held on $25,000 bond for charges conspiracy to possess a mixture of anabolic steroids and Hydrocockdone.
The EAD says the arrest is part of a operation being carried out in more than 20 states today. The EAD reports more than 50 people have been arrested so far and more arrests are expected.
According to the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, Woodard has been with the Copperas Cove Fire Department since April 2007"

Australian customs busts steroid smuggler.
"During initial questioning officers asked the man to empty his pockets. The man allegedly removed four large plastic bags containing vials from his pockets.
An examination of the man's luggage revealed further vials and documentation relating to testosterone. Further examination revealed the man was wearing a belt consisting of numerous pouches containing vials and tablets.
In total 143 vials and tablet containers were found in the man's possession. The contents have been identified as performance and image enhancing drugs."
In the pictures we can see that the seized products were :-Cytex 250 and Dexxa 250 by Thaiger Pharma
Sustan-250 and Primo-100 by Global Anabolics
Depo-Test 250 by Unigen Life Sciences
Oxandrolone by LA Pharma.
All these products are sold in Thai pharmacies so I suspect this guy had flown from Bangkok to Hong Kong and then on to Australia. If that's not the case then he must have logically purchased them from the factory in Hong Kong where they are either making or copying Unigen, Thaiger, Global Anabolics and LA Pharma products.
It appears the unlucky bodybuilder had custom made a white bandage wrap specifically for this smuggling attempt. Boxes for the injectables had been flattened and I presume hidden in his luggage. I can't imagine he had a very comfortable flight with all this product wrapped around him. Bangkok airport security pats down each passenger and thoroughly x-rays and checks hand luggage so I would be very surprised if he managed to get on a flight from there wearing this set up, I'm theorizing that if his products were indeed purchased in Thailand they were in his hold luggage or mailed to Hong Kong.
Name dropping dealer of anabolic steroids busted in Florida.
Judd said after the Thomases retained a lawyer they refused to speak any more to detectives or provide them with details of who they supplied.
The pair were both charged with 10 counts of possession of steroids with intent to sell, 10 counts of importation of anabolic steroids, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and one count of maintaining a residence to sell drugs.

When Polk County police arrested Richard Thomas and his wife Sandra, detectives snagged "an estimated $200,000 in illegal steroids"
It appears customs opened a pack at Philadelphia International Airport port of entry and then local police conducted a controlled delivery.
The quantities found are not nearly as impressive as the variety of products he stocked. Having looked at all three videos I've spotted Tertroxin and Provironum from Thailand, Nolotil amps and Oxsoralen from Spain, a selection of 10ml multis and tabs from Roos Lion, Testonon from Pakistan, Ganabol and other big multi vet vials, various liquid research multis, ziplocks full of what look like IP China tabs and other unidentifiable stuff.
Suspiciously no mention of computers or the possibility of internet sales have been mentioned, it must be pretty obvious to investigators that he was at least buying online and not just selling at the local Gold's Gym where he worked. A quick google search revealed just one domestic claiming to carry Roos Lion and various Thai products :-(
British Dragon issues statement on BD counterfeits.
In regards to old batches please understand that they were made 5 or more years ago, and expiry period of our products is not more than 3 Years. So please understand that ALL products currently offered on the market are 100% counterfeits, regardless of the source.
Using counterfeited medical products is potentially lethal! Counterfeited products are only made with profit in mind, are not produced to any pharmaceutical standard and are usually are full of bacteria and are potentially hazardous. Majority of Counterfeieted products are made in China and are than either smuggled out of the country. Androgel's owner Solvay to launch oral testosterone product.
“This agreement further demonstrates Solvay Pharmaceuticals’ commitment to men suffering from low testosterone,” said Stephen Hill, president of Solvay Pharmaceuticals, in a statement. “As the market leader in the field, we will apply our expertise in the treatment of low testosterone to the development of an oral testosterone replacement therapy. This compound has the potential to be the next major innovation in the management of low testosterone.”
"The new testosterone pill uses Lipocine’s proprietary oral Lip’ral technology. Lip’ral is a clinically proven oral delivery technology for water insoluble drugs."
"Lip’ral technology is based on lipidic compositions which form the optimal dispersed phase in the gastrointestinal environment for improved absorption of the insoluble drug. Lip’ral presents insoluble drugs efficiently to the intestinal absorption site, thus bringing the absorption process under formulation control and making the product robust to physiological variables such as dilution, pH, and food effects."
We expect this new product to be a once a day oral formula, making it nice and easy to abuse unlike Androgel, where the surface area of your skin and the potential mess prevented using a nice high dosage. The downside of this product will of course be it's price I would expect an MRSP of several hundred $ a month ( when used just once a day ) making it far more expensive than good old testosterone injections for muscle building purposes.
Axio making new excuses for their latest fake lab test results.
"I will say this once. The Axio lab results are 100% real. There is a picture from the Chromatograph attached to every lab result. This cannot be fabricated."
Those of you who have looked at the chromatograms on page 2 of each false test result will know they are unreadable, even when viewed at twice their normal size none of the numbers on the axes can be read.
A chromatogram can of course be faked just like any other graph, whether or not Axio's are genuine is anyone's guess. One thing we can be sure of is that the lab tests were not performed on the imaginary "Dionex Model 370U" !"Axio goes out of their way to do everything right. GenX had asked Axio to format the lab results the same as SRCS so that the members could easily read the reports. So you want to blame someone for this blame GenX."
So GenXXL ( an Axio retailer ) is telling Axio what to do now ? Did they also persuade Axio to alter the test results so that every product appears perfectly dosed ?
Axio and GenXXL need to grow up and take responsibility for their mistakes. It's time for them to treat the buying public with some respect and stop trying to feed them fake test results and lame excuses.

Thirty days for dealing to a cop ?Protein that suppresses androgen receptors could improve prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment.
These wily skills help explain why cancer returns despite initially promising treatment results.
"It is clear that signaling by the androgen receptor is paramount for not only the initiation but also the progression of the disease, including escape to a hormone-refractory disease," he says. Moves androgen receptors make to support cancer growth make it "unbeatable at this point," for some patients."
Perhaps I haven't been paying attention in recent months but it appears scientists are now saying that in times of low testosterone the human body is able to increase the numbers of androgen receptors in certain tissues so that the small amount of testosterone left has a greater effect.
I'm theorizing based on this new info that a period of very low testosterone directly following a cycle might actually help us in the long run by tricking the body into creating more androgen receptors. Hopefully these new receptors would be produced in muscle cells and not just unwelcome places like the prostate.

Latest Axio lab tests full of mistakes !
Here's the problems we found with the new test results :-
1. They claim tests were performed on a "Dionex Model 370U" yet if you Google this Dionex model number it appears not to exist. The only search results that mention it are from Axio's website. Nor can it be found on the manufacturer sionex's site. How could a genuine lab test be performed on equipment that doesn't exist ?
2. All tests have the same Laboratory ID "I1t2s3e4", it appears whoever is in charge of creating their test results doesn't realize each sample should have it's own unique laboratory ID number.
3. The maths on some of the new tests is wrong :-
Using their own figures the average dosage per ml should be 91.3 mg so it's approx 10% under dosed. The majority of the new tests results at least use figures that are mathematically plausible so it's obvious they were paying more attention when creating their latest set of test results.4. Old parts of SRCS tests are still showing up in their latest 2009 tests.
"This report supersedes any previously generated report etc " was a phrase S.R.C.S only used when they were asked to retest an existing sample.Axio and their retailer GenXXL have in recent months been replacing products that customers are unhappy with. I'm sure they will eventually realize that it would make more financial sense for them to do genuine independent lab testing prior to sale rather than having the expense of replacing bad products they've already sold.
Old Diabetes Drug Teaches Experts New Tricks.
"Rather than an interpreter of insulin-liver communication, metformin takes over as the messenger itself," said senior investigator Fred Wondisford, who heads the Metabolism Division at Johns Hopkins Children's. "Metformin actually mimics the action of CBP, the critical signaling protein involved in the communication between the liver and the pancreas that's necessary for maintaining glucose production by the liver and its suppression by insulin."
To test their hypothesis, researchers induced insulin resistance in mice by feeding them a high- fat diet over several months. Mice on high-fat diets developed insulin resistance, and their high blood glucose levels did not drop to normal after eating. Once the mice were treated with metformin, however, CBP was activated to the levels of nondiabetic mice, and their blood glucose levels returned to normal. However, when metformin was given to diabetic mice with defective copies of CBP, it had no effect on blood glucose levels, a proof that metformin works through CBP."

Nigeria employs state of the art tools to fight pharmacueutical counterfeiting.
Dr Bate has also called on the Chinese government to increase its penalties for counterfeiters, which are currently as low as 100-4,000 yuan. The country’s legal mechanism for prosecuting counterfeiters needs restructuring, its intellectual property regime must be tightened and regulators should be given the necessary resources and authority to able to independently investigate reported cases of counterfeiting – with or without the company’s cooperation, he says.
However, he also notes the significance of the counterfeiting industry for China’s economy, with as many as five million of the country’s citizens estimated to be in the business of fake drugs and patent and trademark infringements. Dr Bate quotes Li Guorong, general manager of the China United Intellectual Property Protection Center, as warning that radical action against counterfeiters “would crash the economy overnight” and even “destabilize a government where counterfeit factories and warehouses are often owned by local military and political grandees."

Australia's "The Age" obsessed with HGH ?
"Ageing men seek 'youth' fix."
MIDDLE-AGED men are increasingly injecting human growth hormones to fight off old age, spending up to $15,000 a year.
Black market sales are also booming with Australian Customs reporting a four-fold increase in seizures of the prohibited import in the last year.
Pharmaceutical companies refuse to disclose sales figures, but a senior industry source says HGH use has soared in the past two years.
"Grow old gracefully"
As seductive as Dr Levin's chemical approach to anti-ageing seems, it is not without serious risk.
'I FEEL great, I feel like I'm 50 — and I'm going to be 80 in two years," declared Dr John Levin in The Sunday Age last week. Levin attributes his good health to 15 years of injecting human growth hormone (HGH) into his stomach. He goes regularly to the gym, eats well, lives well and feels great. Who wouldn't want to be just like him?
"Medicine's 'grey' area needs proper investigation"
The unregulated use of human growth hormone is a disaster in the making.
AS AUSTRALIA's population grows inexorably older, issues surrounding ageing move to the centre of social and political debate. Cultural sneers epitomised by the "hope I die before I get old" mentality will be countered by efforts to protect the health and wealth of older Australians.

"What You Don't Know Might Kill You" by Sports Illustrated.
Gonzalez has no background in chemistry or nutritional science. His previous job was restoring cars; before that he was in the Marines. What he knows about sports supplements—those pills, powders and drinks marketed to athletes and would-be athletes—he learned from using them (initially as a chubby adolescent hoping to add muscle) and from reading articles in magazines and online. Except for his own experiences, there is nothing to suggest that he is qualified to offer advice on supplementation, let alone to design and manufacture his own line of products.
All it takes to become a sports supplement dealer is a little money and a phone call, like the one Gonzalez placed last year to a supplement manufacturer in Texas. Gonzalez ordered bottles of a muscle-building product that he named Monsterdrol, which were then made, packaged and marked with Gonzalez's label, Supplements911. When showing a visitor around his store in February, Gonzalez pointed to a bottle of Monsterdrol and described it as "your typical prohormone product." A steroid prohormone is a substance that the body converts to an anabolic steroid; andro is an example. But Dr. Don Catlin—CEO of Anti-Doping Research, a Los Angeles--based nonprofit that hunts down new performance enhancers, and the former director of the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory—says that Monsterdrol is in fact methasteron, an anabolic steroid that, while not on the controlled substance list of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), is "Number 1 on my danger list."

His wife, 42, added: “I welcome the questions Mr Duddridge has asked because it’s something that people don’t think about that much. People understand the dangers of other drugs but don’t realise what steroids can do.
“People go to gyms and think anything they get there must be healthy. We need to make people realise it is legal to buy steroids and legal to take them, but illegal to sell them. People can buy them on the internet. That needs to change.”
We still don't know what really killed this poor kid as the toxicology and other forensics results have not been released. Educated people are speculating it may have been DNP or Ephedrine, the general consensus of opinion is that it couldn't simply have been oral AS.
Perhaps if this kid had bought his gear online rather than from a couple of teenage dealers he would not have ended up dead, it saddens me that his grieving parents may actually be doing more harm than good with their anti-steroid campaigning in his name.

The league's forensic toxicologist discovered a player had ingested bumetanide, a potent prescription drug. This was the first time the undisclosed pharmaceutical in StarCaps had been found in urine samples mandated by the collectively bargained Policy for Anabolic Steroids and Related Substances.
The case is at a pivotal juncture. Both sides are scheduled to argue why they should prevail at a hearing today Thursday the 14th of May in St. Paul."

Wrestler Benoit's doctor gets 10 years in prison.
Dr. Phil Astin was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty Jan. 29 to 175 counts that including illegally distributing prescription drugs.
Wrestler Chris Benoit killed his family and then himself in 2007 in their suburban Atlanta home. A medical examiner couldn't say whether the steroids Astin prescribed for Benoit played a role in the deaths.
U.S. District Judge Jack Camp said there was no doubt the 54-year-old Astin tried to help hundreds of patients at his western Georgia clinic. But the judge said he could not overlook the fact that two patients died as a result of Astin's misconduct."
Drugs, Murder, and the New England Patriots: The Problem the NFL Ignores.
In another June incident, convicted steroids dealer David Jacobs and his girlfriend were found dead from bullet wounds in their Texas home. Just weeks before his death, Jacobs had supplied NFL investigators with a list of NFL players who had bought steroids from him, along with e-mails, checks, and other evidence that supported his claims. Jacobs explained his cooperation with investigators by saying he had made it his personal mission to “clean up the sport.” Like in any good Sopranos episode, our first reaction is someone “took care him.” But police have yet to find any evidence of a hit and now believe it was a murder-suicide."

FDA to Destroy $1.3 Million in Dietary Supplements Containing Unapproved Ingredients.
The supplements were sold under the brand names Methyl 1-D, Methyl 1-D XL and Formadrol Extreme XL and sold over the Internet and across the country at fitness retail stores and other locations, the FDA said. The supplements were distributed by LG Sciences LLC of Brighton, Mich. and marketed to body builders as muscle-building compounds.
U.S. Marshals recently seized thousands of bottles of the dietary supplement products as part of an ongoing FDA investigation. Laboratory tests found the supplements contained one or more unapproved food additives and new dietary ingredients, which the FDA could not be sure was safe, the agency said.
The products contained 1,4,6-androstatriene-3,17-dione, also known as “ATD” or 1,4,6-etioallocholan-dione. The condemned Formadrol Extreme XL contained ATD and 3,6,17-androstenetrione (also known as “6-OXO”). Both of these substances are steroids that inhibit the activity of the enzyme aromatase and may be found in dietary supplements promoted to boost testosterone levels, according to the FDA. "
Old news : Yet another US sold herbal ED product found to contain Tadalafil.
Nature & Health is located in Brea, California and has been informed by representatives of the FDA that laboratory analysis by the agency of Libimax samples found Libimax to contain tadalafil, an active ingredient of an FDA-approved drug for erectile dysfunction (ED). This finding renders Libimax an unapproved drug."
It seems amazing to me how often this happens and yet nobody gets into serious legal trouble.
Surely the FDA can't believe this keeps happening by accident ?
Article on the dangers of anabolic steroids from the UK.
Seven out of 10 men using “hardcore heavy lifting gyms” regularly use steroids, research shows.
Online buyers don’t know what they are getting, with almost 40% of all ’roids used in parts of South Wales now deemed fake.
Experts told the Wales on Sunday these stark stats are just the tip of the iceberg for a craze that has seen boys as young as 16, who are desperate to bulk up, resort to taking steroid tablets made for cattle.
Ignorance results in many being duped into buying counterfeit steroids from foreign internet sites. Mr Lowes said vials of liquid sometimes contain part steroid and part baby oil or cooking oil. Sometimes they contain no steroid at all.
But he said the greatest danger is posed by real anabolic steroids, both tablet and liquid form, bought off the internet. As the drugs often come without any instructions or with instructions in a foreign language, teenagers trying to out-bulk their friends and match the Hollywood image are risking their health by taking huge doses of the synthetic hormone.
“People will inject as soon as they finish working out in the gym because they think they’ll get more benefit as their blood is circulating. What they are actually doing is forcing dirt and sweat into their bodies because they haven’t swabbed the skin.”
They are also injecting synth oils, an inert pharmaceutical substance, which help their muscles expand even further beyond the limits they can achieve with steroids.
“Muscle growth is genetically limited,” he said. “But they get around that by injecting synth oil which expands the muscle fibres.
“Some of the synth oils also contain silicone to artificially plump up the muscles and I know of a 16 year old who was using that.”
Professional bodybuilders who thoroughly research the steroids they use will inject up to three millilitres a week of the drugs into their buttocks in six or eight-week cycles and then go six to eight weeks without using the drugs to allow their bodies to recover.
Each cycle can cost around £100, but younger, inexperienced users may pay out far more as they will use much larger doses – up to 10 millilitres – for longer periods.
A BOUNCER from Bridgend told Wales on Sunday he is addicted to being big.
The 24-year-old, who asked not to be named, said he has been using anabolic steroids since he was 17 and wishes he had never started.
But he said he is not able to stop as he cannot face losing his 20-stone frame and the status it gives him in work and among his peers.
He spends around £100 on each six-week cycle, during which he will inject one-mil doses of Cypionate three times a week.
“I started taking it because I wanted to be big. I thought that’s how a man should look.
“I’m now 20st and 6ft and if I went down to 15st I think it would fry my head.”
Former Red Sox utility man Lou Merloni claims players received AS usage advice.
"No. He spins it and says, 'You know what? If you take steroids and sit on the couch all winter long, you can actually get stronger than someone who works out clean. If you're going to take steroids, one cycle won't hurt you; abusing steroids it will.'
"He sat there for one hour and told us how to properly use steroids while I'm with the Boston Red Sox, sitting there with the rest of the organization, and after this I said, 'What the heck was that?' And everybody on the team was like, 'What was that?' And the response we got was, 'Well, we know guys are taking it, so we want to make sure they're taking it the right way.' ... Where did that come from? That didn't come from the Players Association."

Problem: One of 17 people arrested in 2007 on charges of defrauding insurers of $8.5 million through false billings at five medical clinics, according to federal court records.
Result: Pleaded guilty to one count of making false statements to the state in order to make one of the clinics exempt from state inspections. Sentenced in March 2007 to two years of criminal probation. Also, state officials in October 2007 put his medical license on probation for two years, banned him from owning or operating a health facility in that time and ordered him to undergo drug rehabilitation, according to state disciplinary records."
Parents using testosterone gels warned not to put their kids at risk.
Of the fully reviewed cases, adverse events reported in these children included inappropriate enlargement of the genitalia (penis or clitoris), premature development of pubic hair, advanced bone age, increased libido, and aggressive behavior.
In most cases, the signs and symptoms regressed when the child no longer was exposed to the product. However, in a few cases, enlarged genitalia did not fully return to age-appropriate size and bone age remained modestly greater than the child’s chronological age.
In some cases, children had to undergo invasive diagnostic procedures and, in at least one case, a child was hospitalized and underwent surgery due to a delay in recognizing the underlying cause of the signs and symptoms."
Attempted juice driving ends in arrest.
"The guy needed to get stuff out of his house," Bay said. "We went out for a civil standby. While they were doing it, Deputy (Jason) Hearne saw him try to put something inside his truck and it looked like he was hiding it."
Hearne went over and asked Duensing what he was hiding, and the man produced a purple Crown Royal bag. Inside the bag, Hearne found the vials and pills. The vials included three labeled testosterone, one labeled deca durabolin and one labeled sustanon. All three are injectable steroids known for creating muscle mass.
Bay said the vials were all full while the pill bottles were missing tablets. While there was no evidence Duensing had been using steroids, Bay said he is not certain why he had them.
"I don’t know what he was doing with them," Bay said. "I can’t make that guess."

"Canfield police said they received information in June that Gizzi was selling steroids to residents at area gyms. A short time later, a package of anabolic steroids mailed from Europe was intercepted by police.
“In June we were given information that Mr. Gizzi was supplying steroids to Valley residents,” said Josh Wells, Canfield investigator. “That’s when the investigation began, and in February we actually executed the search warrant.”

New discovery Estrogen controls how the brain processes sound.
"We show that estrogen plays a central role in how the brain extracts and interprets auditory information. It does this on a scale of milliseconds in neurons, as opposed to days, months or even years in which estrogen is more commonly known to affect an organism."
Do bodybuilders really believe UG Labs' claims ?
Personally after years of experience I wouldn't dream of accepting a Chinese supplier's claims that a raw was USP / BP grade, pure or sterile until I've proved it by lab testing. It's also impossible to know if your supplier in China has their own factory ( as many claim to ) unless you've personally taken the factory tour.
When raw powders first became easily available thanks to the net it was nigh on impossible to buy a quantity smaller than 5 kg and most real factories wouldn't sell in less than 50 kg amounts, things have changed but I'd still say it's a safe bet that any supplier willing to sell an amount below a kg is just a one man band based in China buying from local suppliers with no control over or real knowledge of his products' quality .
Ohio dealer in court following bust in 2008.
"After 10 months, it's nice to make an arrest, but this isn't the end of it," Wells said.
In fact Wells says it could take a few more months to find everyone involved.
"What we've found out so far is he was using different addresses and po boxes to receive the steroids back into the country," Wells said.
Gizzi is out of police custody but will be back in court soon for a preliminary hearing.
EPO and AS use in soccer discussed by doping experts ( including the infamous Conte ).
"They are using EPO in smaller doses but more frequently," she revealed. "That way the hematocrit won't go that high but will be sustained relatively high, but it's not detectable. It can clear the system within 20 hours."
A single dose of EPO can provide a boost in endurance lasting up to two weeks. Although soccer players have not been caught using EPO, there is a strong potential that players could be using this.
Among those who believe soccer players might find EPO advantageous is Victor Conte, the man at the forefront of the BALCO laboratory scandal involving Barry Bonds, Marion Jones and many other professional athletes.
"Absolutely, EPO would benefit a soccer player enormously," Conte said. "What people fail to understand is that by increasing production of red blood cells you are transporting more oxygen to the muscles and you are also removing carbon dioxide, ammonia and lactic acid, all the byproducts of exercise. EPO is a recovery drug. It's a training drug."
Conte said he has not worked with any soccer players, but that when he supplied several NFL players with the substance, all reportedly had extra energy in the fourth quarter. He agrees with Ayotte's assessment.
"Lower doses are less detectable," he declared. "How quickly it clears depends on how it's administered. If you do 4000 I.U. and do it intravenously then it will clear on average in 19 hours. A subcutaneous injection takes on average 43 hours. Smarter guys use intravenous because it clears earlier."
Conte also agreed with WADA's position on the whereabouts rule.
"I think an athlete can do a lot in three weeks with intensive training," he said, "and with the use of anabolic steroids you can gain an explosive strength base that will last for some time."

Bacteria test results on blackmarket injectables from Body Of Science.com
The particularly surprising thing for me is that one of the alleged offenders Unigen ( which I presume is Unigen Life Sciences ) actually has Thai FDA approval for it's Testosterone Enanthate product that failed the bacteria testing ( no mention of the chain of custody details on their sample so we're hoping it wasn't a genuine Unigen made vial. )
Another unexpectedly poor result was for Alpha Pharma Healthcare of India's Regoxin ( water based stanozol suspension ) which has an excellent reputation amongst bodybuilders.
The rest of the failures were by well known UGLs ( see link above )

Major steroid bust in Northern Ireland / UK.

Lutheran pastor and his gang to be tried in Russia for dealing anabolic steroids.
According to the police files, a pastor from the Petrozavodsk Lutheran parish of the Holy Spirit, 44, organized a criminal group in July 2007.
Besides him, the group included a representative of the Karelian Bodybuilding Federation, 49, and two women aged 29 and 35, the elder woman was a bodybuilding coach.
They delivered banned drugs in a city sport club and offered them to the body-builders.
The State Drug Enforcement agency and Federal Security Council uncovered their criminal actions in March 2008 in course of a mutual operation. The criminal case was opened in compliance with Article 234 of the Russian Criminal Code (illegal trafficking of drastic or poisonous substances intended for distribution.) More than ten kinds of anabolic steroids listed in state register of medical products were confiscated. It makes about eight thousand tablets and two hundred various ampoules.
Major part of the confiscated drugs was kept in the church, where the group leader worked. During the search, the pastor voluntarily gave out his TT pistol to police officers.
All persons named in the case gave a written undertaking not to leave the city. "

EFP products have I've been informed been independently tested by Body Of Science for their new UG book :-)
Ever wondered what the current official UK version of Sustanon looks like ?

Here's the actual ones I get prescribed from Britain's National Health Service.
My GP will only prescribe one amp at a time so I end up paying more getting them at Boots ( a famous chain of pharmacies in UK ) than buying black market, however HG peace of mind is priceless :-)
( sorry for the poor quality pic it was taken with a camera phone at the surgery prior to shooting, evil nurse kept the empty vial and box )
